My ultimate goal is to build marriages where sex still means something, where affection survives responsibility, where motherhood and fatherhood don’t erase husband and wife, and where two people keep choosing each other after reproduction is no longer the point.

EPISODE 104: Who Cheats More? Men or Women?
My one-on-one and couples client work are built around looking for repeating loops such as pursuit, rejection, withdrawal, criticism followed by defensiveness, stress being interpreted as rejection, and failed repair, because the loop often tells us much more than the latest argument does.
Most couples spend enormous energy trying to solve the latest argument.
I’m usually more interested in what keeps happening before, during, and after it.
Who pursues. Who withdraws. What gets interpreted as rejection. What triggers defensiveness. What happens after somebody gets hurt. Whether repair works, or whether the marriage simply resets until the same loop appears again wearing different clothes.
That pattern often tells us far more than deciding who was right in Tuesday night’s fight.
If you recognize a repeating loop in your own relationship and cannot see where to interrupt it, Private Advisory is where we map the pattern, identify what your current responses are producing, and determine the cleanest next move.

Anxious, avoidant, and secure have become internet labels people throw around far too casually.
A wife watches her husband shut down during three arguments and decides she married an avoidant.
A husband watches his wife ask for reassurance repeatedly and concludes that she has anxious attachment.
From there, every behavior gets fed back through the label until the label starts pretending to explain the person, which isn't especially useful for the health and longevity of a marriage.
Attachment language can be useful, however it becomes much less useful when “avoidant” replaces curiosity about why your husband shuts down, or “anxious” replaces understanding what your wife is trying to get reassurance about.
A pattern can tell you what is happening, but it should not become a permanent verdict on who your spouse is.
November’s Marriage Operating System Symposium goes much deeper into communication, interpretation, emotional climate, conflict, repair, pursuit, withdrawal, and the structures that help couples understand the pattern without reducing each other to a label.

One of the most confusing experiences inside a long marriage is watching two people who love each other behave as though they want completely opposite things.
Two people can love each other and still spend years reacting to completely different versions of the marriage.
He thinks he is solving the problem. She experiences dismissal.
She thinks she is asking to be understood. He experiences criticism.
He pulls back to stop the fight. She experiences abandonment.
She presses harder to restore connection. He experiences control.
Neither person may want distance, yet the system keeps producing it.
November’s Marriage Operating System Symposium is devoted to exactly these patterns, including communication, emotional climate, conflict, repair, leadership, roles, intimacy, and the structures that help Husband and Wife stop fighting the system they accidentally built.

The Presenting Problem: A husband in a longstanding dead bedroom tells his wife that feeling sexually desired by her is the only birthday gift he wants, then watches weeks pass while the lingerie she bought remains unopened and other plans repeatedly take priority.
My Read: The unopened lingerie isn’t the wound, it’s the receipt, because when a spouse clearly names what makes him feel chosen and the marriage keeps finding energy for everything except acting on it, eventually he stops hearing “I meant to” as love and starts hearing it as evidence of where the relationship actually ranks.
If this marriage example sounds less like education and more like your actual marriage, a Private Advisory Session is where we can examine your specific situation together: calendly.com/attractionmatri…
Before you decide the marriage is finished, make sure you are not making a permanent decision from inside a pattern neither of you has ever properly diagnosed.
Sometimes the last useful move is not another argument, another promise, or another month of white-knuckling the same marriage. It is getting very clear about what is broken, what has already been tried, what still has leverage, and whether there is a credible path forward.
If you are genuinely at the point of wondering whether to stay or go, Private Advisory is where we put the full situation on the table and identify the cleanest next move.

Never recruit your children into your marital grievances.
They should not become confidants, jurors, emotional protectors, or quiet allies against their father.
Children should never be asked to help carry the marriage.
They should not become confidants, jurors, referees, emotional protectors, or quiet allies against one parent. Adult conflict belongs with the adults.
November’s Marriage Operating System Symposium is devoted to exactly these kinds of structural questions, including parenthood, boundaries, emotional climate, conflict, repair, leadership, and how couples keep the family from becoming organized around unresolved marital tension.

There is an enormous difference between being sexually available and being sexually generous.
One says, “Fine.”
The other communicates, in a thousand possible ways, “You are still my man, and I am glad we belong to each other.”

Sexual stewardship means protecting time, privacy, affection, health, playfulness, and the conditions that help desire stay alive. Waiting for spontaneous passion to survive children, careers, stress, laundry, aging, and Tuesday night is an excellent way to lose it.

Other People: I want to be first in line to board the plane!
Me: I want to be last in line to board the plane.
The last thing I want to do is just sit on an airplane for 30 extra minutes while everyone else boards.
Anyone else???
