The Lady Chevrons beat the West Indies Women by four wickets in Harare! Superb cricket 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🇿🇼🏏
A Great Knock No-one Witnessed
Story by Vivian Banhire
HARARE — When West Indies captain Hayley Matthews blazed her way to 181, the sixth-highest individual score in women's ODI history,it rightfully stole the headlines in the series opener against Zimbabwe. But amidst the visitors' dominant 99-run victory, a quieter, historic milestone unfolded at the Harare Sports Club that deserved far more than the echoing silence of an empty stadium.
Opening the batting, Zimbabwean wicketkeeper-batter Modester Mupachikwa delivered a masterclass that shattered her usual mold. Traditionally known as an anchor who protects her wicket with a career strike rate of 59, Mupachikwa looked a completely different player on this day. She surged to her highest-ever WODI score of 86, playing with an aggressive strike rate of 81.
More remarkably, the milestone was laced with a piece of personal history. Across her previous 30 WODI innings, Mupachikwa had accumulated 67 boundaries without ever clearing the ropes for a six. In this match, she not only brought up her fifth career half-century, and her first against a top-tier team, having previously reached the milestone only against PNG, the USA, and the UAE, she did it in style by launching a straight six over the bowler's head.
Yet, the brilliance of her knock played out against a backdrop of vacant seats. Ahead of the West Indies tour, captain Josephine Nkomo made a passionate plea for fans to rally behind the squad, emphasizing that greater game time and crowd support are vital catalysts for the team's growth.
Mupachikwa’s historic innings was a joy to watch for the few who witnessed it; the hope now is that performances of this caliber will soon spark the packed houses they deserve.

Thank you Saki Bhai @SRazaB24
For the first time, I have to agree with the Mayor.
As fans and self styled pundits, we must never attack individual players.
They are already struggling, heaping the pressure on them will worsen the situation, lets persuade the Coaches and Selectors to do the right thing
Milton is a fantastic cricketer, but he needs to start believing in himself.
I know this will be disputed as he hasn't been good at the International Stage.
I hope for the best
