Over the years, the builder's plate on A39R has weathered badly. It was removed, cleaned up, primed and painted, over the last week. Today it was returned to the loco, all nice and shiny again.

We can’t think of a decent caption for this one because we are all woozy from the beauty. A39R at Downpatrick tonight in pre-Christmas and pre-diesel mini gala test runs. Phwoar.

Right so. Looks like we have some clag action planned for the new year with the help of our friends at @downrail
Not an ITG loco this time. Currently at @downrail G613 is privately owned and currently stored. The loco is in the process of a lengthy restoration. This picture was taken in 2011 and although things are a bit wet and miserable here, G613 has been undercover ever since.

For #ExploreYourArchives theme for #home; the gate-keepers house at Glenealy, Co. Wicklow, one of several hundred on Irish Railways. I'm sure @VickiExplores agrees it's undoubtedly 'quaint'!🙂#irishrailarchives

Variety of public timetables from the 1950's I recently digitised, showing the then modern image of CIÉ transport (another @The_ITG locomotive features with 'A3')

At least the loco still exists.
Another archive picture of weekend PWD-work in the Dublin area; CIÉ loco 226 with old track-panels during the relaying and re-signalling of Howth Junction, complete with soon to be removed GNR(I) bracket signal, recorded by the late Paddy Scully, c1982.

How to start a G class. First time, every time.

A trio of traction. Quiet for the time being but hopefully we can get back in business at some stage.

Our G class would beat this on a 1 in 4 downhill. Not so sure about stopping though.
82 Years ago today. Driver Joe Duddington turned his cap around and drove 'Mallard' into the History Books.

Closest we got to requiring a plough was two men with shovels scraping ice off the rail head at @downrail
🌨 ❄ With snow and ice forecast across Britain, here’s a look at how we help to keep the railway running when temperatures dip below freezing: ➡️ bit.ly/31O1jro 🎥 : Driver's eye view of a snow plough in action #snow #UKsnow
