Nigeria Violent Conflict Bi-Weekly Spotlight | 20 September–17 October 2026
Between 20 September and 17 October 2026, Nigeria recorded 267 violent conflict incidents, resulting in 796 casualties and 580 kidnap victims.
Overall, the period highlights two major conflict hotspots: Plateau State, where incident volume remains high, and Zamfara State, where the human toll was greatest.
Mass abductions in Zamfara and Niger states, alongside high-casualty attacks in Borno State, further underscore the need to look beyond incident counts when assessing the severity of Nigeria’s security crisis.
