Kelvin Sampson and his University of Houston players watched part of former assistant Quannas White's first win as a head coach at Louisiana together Friday night. "They'd call out he's running Quick," Sampson tells @PaperCityMag. "They recognized everything he was running." Sampson later proudly watched White's whole first career win again himself. "Just satisfying," Sampson says. "Because you go back to when you were recruiting him (as a player). I went to his mother's house in New Orleans. . . So to see these guys in high school, junior college, college and to see where he's a Division I head basketball coach. That does this old coach's heart good. "I'm really proud of him. I saw his mom sitting behind him. Colette. She's a beauty. His wife Leah and his four kids. That kid's come a long way. And he's going to be really good at this."
