After Peres suspension this tweet is aging like fine wine, the problem lies with the agents/coaches
Every high-profile doping trail involving a Kenyan athlete always leads back to Federico Rosa, Claudio Berardelli or Gianni Demadonna. Any Kenyan athlete who chooses to associate themselves with these three must also bear the burden of suspicion that follows them.

In 1986, the men’s hammer WR looked ripe to fall. It hasn’t budged in 40 years. Meanwhile, the women’s 800m WR is 43 years old - and suddenly under pressure. I’ve analysed all 38 individual track & field WRs to see which look safe, and which don’t. Full analysis: link in bio.

Oh!
The AIU has provisionally suspended reigning World and former Olympic champion, Peres Jepchirchir, after an out-of-competition sample, collected in Kenya prior to her recent Sydney Marathon victory, returned an adverse analytical finding for EPO. 1/2

In the NCAA and during his early pro career, Arop was almost always a front runner. Big ups to him + coaching team for the new approach—there are plenty of 800m/1500m athletes who apply the same tactics over and over again, year after year. It’s okay to switch it up sometimes!

shocked by the discourse about whether it’s rude to ask if you can stay at a friend’s apartment when you’re in their city. someone said “i have a tiny apartment and a stressful job so that wouldn’t work for me” okay then say that to your friend? it’s not rude of them to ask wtf

How every Chicago Marathon champion has failed to defend his title since Sammy Wanjiru in 2009-10. Will Amos Kipruto break the curse next year?

TALK ABOUT A GUTSY RUN 😫 After making a bold move around halfway in the 2026 Chicago Marathon, Vinny Mauri 🇺🇸 wrestles a bear of a final 10km, stopping multiple times to stretch but still hanging on for a tenth place, third American finish in 2:06:45. In only his second career marathon, Mauri has shown he belongs in the mix with the best distance runners in the world.

NBC5 cutting away to interview an Abbott VP during the final two miles of an incredibly dramatic women's race between Hawi Feysa and Sharon Lokedi at the Chicago Marathon is simply absurd. Broadcasting malpractice and total disrespect for the event.

Colorado's Meshack Kipruto upsets a LOADED field at Nuttycombe. Everyone down to 9th is top-20 at Nationals caliber New Mexico backs up their #1 ranking with 3 in the top 8 and an easy win #2 Iowa State finished 19th despite running all 3 of their top returners from last year👀

Claire Stegall of Florida got 9th at Nuttycombe today in 19:24, five seconds behind the winner. Pretty good result for a miler

I suspect Masai Russell will win AOTY, and she would be very deserving. But there's a case for Audrey Werro, too. Werro is hurt by comparisons against times from the '80s that no one believes in. Strip those out and she ran the three fastest 800s ever in 2026.

In 2015, I compiled a chronological list of the sub-10 club when it had reached 100 members. Eleven years later, there are now 232 of them. 😳 The first 100 took 47 years. The next 100 took nine. The fully updated list 👇 jonmulkeen.com/statistics/ch…

The men’s marathon has already reached unprecedented depth in 2026 - with three months of the year still to go. Typically, almost 40% of the year's 50 fastest times come between Oct-Dec (thanks largely to Chicago and Valencia). So expect the numbers below to rise.
