The story keeps getting crazier. To recap everything that has been reported so far:
- The US intelligence community discovered that Jensen Huang, the CEO of the largest company in the world, was sleeping with Alice Huang, a Chinese spy and an executive at Megaspeed. (FT)
- Multiple independent investigations have concluded that Megaspeed is likely a Chinese cutout, which helps Chinese companies access AI chips or circumvent export controls. (NYT and Bloomberg)
- The US intelligence community also concluded that Alice Huangโs goal was to convince Jensen to lobby the U.S. government to loosen export controls on advanced AI chips. (NYT)
- The intelligence community relayed this information to โa small group of top US government officialsโ earlier this year. (FT)
- Over the last year, Jensen Huang has repeatedly lobbied the U.S. government to loosen export controls on advanced chips. @BISgov has done so, not only by permitting the export of H200 chips to China, but also not enforcing export controls that would have required a license for exports of the most advanced Blackwell chips to Megaspeed and Southeast Asia.
- Although @CommerceGov leadership was presumably briefed on this information by the U.S. intelligence community, @BISgov has taken no actions to tighten controls on Megaspeed or Southeast Asia.
- Megaspeed remains a preferred cloud partner of Nvidia, and continues to receive Nvidia Blackwell chips despite employing a Chinese spy who reportedly is romantically engaged with the CEO of Nvidia.

What is going on here??? We need answers. The question of who gets the most advanced AI chips in the world is literally the defining strategic question of our time. And not only does it seem like the MSS may be directly influencing the debate on export controls in the United States, but also @CommerceGov is refusing to listen to the warnings of the IC on this issue. What is a POSSIBLE good explanation for why Megaspeed is still receiving chips? Why is there not a license requirement for AI chip shipments to all of Southeast Asia? This is beyond strange at this point.
The fallout from this story will be massive. Obviously, the motivations underpinning Nvidiaโs policy views opposing export controls must now all be questioned. But also, how did @BISgov sit on this information and has still taken no actions? We need answers.

Head of a Russian political party, Sergey Mironov, and his new wife, have adopted a child kidnapped from Ukraine.
Russian media"Vazhnye Istorii" has obtained documents confirming that the 70-year-old MP, leader of the party "A Just Russia" Sergey Mironov, who actively supports the war, together with his wife Inna Varlamova adopted a child kidnapped from Ukraine.
At the end of August 2022, Inna Varlamova arrived in Kherson region together with Mironov's first deputy in the State Duma, Yana Lantratova. They did not leave alone. The local occupation authorities issued power of attorney for them to take out two children - 10-month-old Margarita Prokopenko and two-year-old Ilia Vashchenko, Hromadske reported. These children lived in an orphanage in Kherson before the full-scale war began.
In December 2022, Sergey Mironov and Inna Varlamova adopted Margarita Prokopenko, taken from Kherson. She was just over a year old. At the request of the adopters, the personal data of the child can be changed, which was done: the girl became Marina Sergeevna Mironova. Her name and parents were changed, but also the place of birth: instead of the Ukrainian Kherson - Podolsk near Moscow.
According to "Vazhnye Istorii", this is the first documented case of adoption of a Ukrainian child by a Russian politician of such rank. According to lawyers interviewed by the publication, from the point of view of international law, this can be qualified as a war crime and is considered genocide.

There goes Margarita. A friend of her mother's had adopted her after adopting her sister. The papers came through, but then Margarita was gone. So far, no luck getting her back to her legal mother. Russia took her.
Today, it became known that the leader of the Just Russia-Patriots for Truth party, Sergei Mironov, and his wife adopted a child who was taken from Ukraine. 10-month-old Margarita Prokopenko was taken last year from an orphanage in the then-occupied Kherson to the territory of the Russian Federation. There, the child's name and place of birth were changed entirely. Now, the child is registered as Marina Mironova from the Moscow region.
This is the first documented case of the adoption of a #Ukrainian child by a Russian politician of this rank. Experts in international law qualify such actions as a war crime, which is considered genocide.
Officially, Margarita and two-year-old Ilya Vashchenko were taken to Moscow for "examination, determination of further treatment tactics and rehabilitation." @HromadskeUA wrote about this in July.
It is worth noting that Margarita's father died, and her mother was deprived of parental rights. However, the girl has other relatives with the right to take custody of the child. However, this did not prevent the Russians from #kidnapping the child and changing her personal data completely. Ilya's fate is currently unknown, but it is noted that he also held a new birth certificate.
Nothing is surprising about such news today. The #Russian authorities are pursuing a systemic genocidal policy against the Ukrainian nation, using the least protected category of the population - children from orphanages. And this story shows how much this policy is approved at the state level.
The international community should be aware of these facts; this is the only way to save our children.
