📰 For those wondering what the Melbourne Cup means, or questioning if it's lost its significance, today I spoke to the breeder and owner of So You Are, Stuart Ramsey. Unbeknownst to me, when I called to chat for a story, Ramsey didn't know his horse had made the field. When I told him, he was reduced to tears.
"I can't believe it. You breed and race horses all your life, hoping to get a runner in the Melbourne Cup. It's a dream come true," he said.

📰 Connections of the following Melbourne Cup runners have told me their horse has undergone and passed the mandatory Computed Tomography (CT) scan: Point Of Law, Mr Monaco, Zahrann, Juja Kibo, Middle Earth, Shockletz, Royal Supremacy, Knight’s Choice, Onesmoothoperator, Soul Of Spain, Zakouma, Wine Dark Sea.
Regarding the rest, I either don't know or they have not yet been scanned. The scanning window closes today for all horses, other than those in the Bendigo Cup (closes tomorrow).
Cup runners also have two pre-race vet inspections; the first on Oct 29-30, the second on Nov 2.

🏆🌟 Living Legends continues to punch well above our weight! 🌟🏆
Small but mighty, and making our mark both locally and across Victoria!
We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Living Legends has been named a finalist across two prestigious awards programs, recognising our contribution to tourism, cultural heritage and the visitor economy.
🏆 2026 Victorian Tourism Awards – Finalist in TWO categories:
🐎 Tourist Attraction
🐎 Cultural Tourism
🏆 2026 Hume Business Awards – Finalist in the Visitor Economy – Tourism category.
🌟 And the celebrations don’t stop there! We’re incredibly proud of our very own Adele Ioannou, who has been named a finalist for the Young Achiever Award at the Hume Business Awards!
For a small, passionate team, these recognitions are a huge achievement and a wonderful reminder that you don’t have to be big to make a big impact!
We’re proud to represent our local Hume community while continuing to showcase Living Legends and the stories of our retired racing legends and the Historic Woodlands Homestead and Park to visitors from across Victoria, Australia and beyond.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated team, volunteers, supporters and visitors who make it all possible. ❤️🐎
Congratulations to all our fellow finalists. We can’t wait to celebrate at the upcoming awards nights!
Small team. Big heart. Legendary achievements! 🏆
