Holding police to a lower standard than the rest of us is a clear indication of how degenerate our society is
🚨 A 92‑year‑old grandma is dead, the street‑camera video shows the Orlando cop caused the crash, the police report says he’s at fault… and prosecutors still shrugged and decided to not charge the officer. Accountability isn’t “complicated.” It’s just avoided.

Hey @grok what does NYC and/or NY state law have to say about how @HMSHostCEO retail locations at airports must remedy blatant overcharging by their "computer" from the menu price?

Also what do they have to say, if anything, about them labeling the "fee" that is legally & very specifically not a tax as a "tax"

Police are the standing army we were warned about retweeted
this Citizen Lab report finds that an Israeli ad tech company placed spyware on at least 45 devices used by Al Jazeera employees. the spyware itself - from an Israeli firm blacklisted by the U.S. in 2021 - was apparently delivered via ad targeting, without clicking by the user

Three cops to arrest this lady....there's that shortage of police again....
Police in Philadelphia arrested a 78-year-old woman for protesting an Uber Eats delivery robot by standing in its way. Cops charged her with disorderly conduct just for standing in front of a robot on a public sidewalk. Carolyn Marvin is a retired communications professor who spent decades teaching freedom of expression at the University of Pennsylvania. She said she specifically keeps the sidewalk open and fully accessible for human pedestrians, and that her actions only target the autonomous vehicle. Marvin has been blocking delivery robots for months to protest the replacement of human delivery workers. She considers her actions to be protected by the First Amendment.

Meanwhile all the other DSA members on the city council who voted for the most recent record LAPD budget, have endorsed Karen Bass. DSA really needs to get their shit together
DSA's National Political Committee will vote on whether to expel Nithya Raman as a member and whether to rescind DSA-LA's endorsement of her on October 19 The NPC has already voted and found DSA-LA to have violated DSA R22 for failing to question Raman on her support for BDS

Does anyone know if Karen gave back the illegal money he raised for her at the illegal fundraiser?
“For her to put ‘gold standard’ and ‘Daryl Gates’ in the same sentence is appalling... She needs to apologize not only to our community, the Black community. She needs to apologize to the entire city.” - @dannybakewellsr, responding to Nithya Raman’s insensitive praise of former LAPD Chief Daryl Gates.

This is true. Karen, our whiney Mayor, is the servant of LAPD, not the servant of the people who elected her.
The fact is under Karen Bass, LAPD actively collaborated with ICE, beat & gassed & arrested people protesting ICE, and shot 40mm at unsuspecting journalists covering ICE. Zero accountability for that department Karen is a fraud and a liar and cannot be mayor for another 4 years

Sounds about white
John Sheeran, the white teen who tried to drown a Black teen at a Cape Cod pond while using racial slurs, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced to three years of probation and over 700 hours of community service. He avoided jail time.

Councilmember Raman, stop lying to Angelenos. If you knew LA’s history, you’d never say the words “gold standard” and “Daryl Gates” in the same sentence. Instead of apologizing to our communities, you’re lying about the LAPD coordinating with ICE. So here are the facts. 🧵

I keep saying Flock is the fall guy for the real bad guys
New: After the City of Reno decided last week to not renew its contract with Flock Safety, city staff are planning to propose the city to enter into a contract with Axon. Axon is another license plate reader company. The contract would be worth more than $21M across eight years.

How many patrol hours does LAPD lose every year to officers conducting personal business on duty, like going to the post office, bank etc? Does your job give you a free car to run your personal errands with?

The LAPD cop shot blindly & wildly into a crowd, but ABC won't tell you that
#BREAKING: A man who engaged in a gunfight with LAPD outside a Silver Lake Trader Joe's store after a chase and crash, leading to a store assistant manager being fatally shot by an officer, was sentenced to more than 200 years to life behind bars. abc7ne.ws/6250I2

Love how @LADOTofficial sends 4 meter maids to direct traffic at an intersection with construction and only one of them directs traffic while the other 3 sit in their car and do nothing (with the AC on, natch)
