New Article: Tim Forssman (@Tim4sman) and colleagues discuss results from Euphorbia Kop in southern Africa, focusing on the renegotiation of forager and farmer lifestyles during a Later Stone Age/Iron Age transition. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…
Recently I (Tim) moved to the University of Mpumalanga. Soon after arriving here I was shown some stunning #rockart between Mbombela and White River, and then told about some art in town that I duly visited. We are surrounded by #archaeology and #heritage in #southafrica
I was interviewed for an episode on human history with Govert for Dutch TV. I got to talk a bit about the area that I do my research in. The full episode can be found here and my little but is from about minute 24: npostart.nl/govert-naar-de-o…
Very interesting thread showing some possible emerging trends
[Thread] JUST IN:
1. NEW #OmicronVariant data from the Steve Biko/Tshwane District Hospital Complex via @MRCza. Tshwane = where SA's Omicron outbreak started
1. Data = for the 1st 2 weeks of the outbreak (14-29 Nov)
2. Past 5 days (29 Nov-3 Dec) = exponential increase in cases

This shocking take in #Rassieerasmus judgement relating to the treatment of Siya Kolisi in 1st Test, jumped out at me…thread.
We had a great chat with @archaeochops on #bonesandstones about her amazing research into the introduction of sheep in southern Africa. Thanks for sitting down with us Courtneay, your work is fascinating. #archaeology #ceramics #southernafrica youtu.be/_qBIrYfqnMU

It's a sorting Sunday for the #HARP team. Working carefully through the finds, separating them out, and bagging each artefact type for analysis back in the lab @PASTEvolve #archaeology #stoneage #workinghard

Nicci Sherwood, a postdoc in #HARP, is doing some awesome replication and experimental work on #littlemuck stone scrapers to help determine what they were used for. Check out this awesome video she made of her progress.

#storiesinpapers: The next paper I'm going to talk a little about is my very first titled A Later Stone Age Assemblage from Canteen Kopje, Northern Cape, published with Kathy Kuman, Mike Leader and Ryan Gibbon
I learnt a lot, as anyone would with their first paper, and I was grateful to have helpful and patient co-authors. Now I really enjoy writing papers but it took a long time to get to this point and I still learn with each output.
Here is an excellent opportunity to have a book published, copy-edited, and printed all for free. All you need to do is submit your proposal to a panel of judges and have a better pitch than anyone else. Worth a shot!
