Zelensky, EU elites, NAFO, Russian nationalists, Reddit, and Blue Anon all vehemently oppose the Ukraine peace plan - which all suggests it hits the mark.
We finally got a map of the U.S. deal for Ukraine, and it looks about how you'd expect any realistic deal at this point to look.

Zohran showed me the tweet. He said "sir, look at FDR & LaGuardia. They completely overlapped." And we looked into Alexander's tweet very strongly. FDR, the vaults, they did great things. We took tremendous pictures. And we're going to do that. 'My little LaGuardia', I call him
An unfortunate contrast between Mamdani and LaGuardia — on whom I’ve seen many pin their hopes for a new left-wing mayor — is that LaGuardia’s mayoralty completely overlapped with FDR’s presidency. LaGuardia was able to achieve a lot of great things because he had a friendly fellow New Yorker in the White House. Mamdani would have another native New Yorker in the White House, true, but not one who’s amenable to expanding social democracy.

What people don’t realize about Trump is that before being subscribed to any ideology he is a Desi Uncle at heart who meets someone like Mamdani and his first thought is, “I wish my chud bastard son Don Jr. had this type of authentic swag.”
"I expect to be helping him, not hurting him. A big help" -- Trump is totally charmed by Mamdani

See footnote 1 on the first page of AI-2027 website, it used to be after '...best guess about what that might look like' but we moved it to the frikken title to be more clear. I also mentioned this in various interviews iirc.

South Africa was easy to focus on because it had a race-based political system. Rhodesia had racial equality and so everyone (including contemporaries) pretends it never happened. Even Boomer Americans who knew about it treat it as taboo.

It's very obvious why: Rhodesia was a race-blind democracy in Africa that had the highest living standards for both whites and blacks. It's not just about Africa. It suggests that good government requires further restricting the franchise.

The suppression of German-Americans during WW1 was incredibly aggressive. Wilson set up an entire department that went around renaming towns, tearing down statues, and banning German in schools. The US went from <90% of high schools teaching German to >10% in 3 years. My theory is that Wilson almost lost in 1916 due to German-American Republicans in the Midwest, and he entered the war partially to undertake a massive anti-German-American domestic campaign.

They’re mostly embarrassed about it now, but you need to really grasp the effect that Hamilton had on the urban liberal psyche. This is from an Atlantic article in 2019. The article isn’t even about Hamilton, the author just felt the need to go on about it *this* much.

Republicans should simply take money away from billionaires. I think they get upset if you don't do this to them; they don't know who's in charge or who they should be obeying

Just going to file this under ‘things that were obvious at the time but are now being admitted years later now that the political stakes are close to zero.’ You can just trust your eyes and ears and save yourself the multi-year wait for institutions to acknowledge reality.
Absolutely brutal quotes from Democrats in this Politico report blasting Karine Jean-Pierre and her “book tour”: -“A car crash is fascinating to watch. She was the top communicator for the president of the United States and she can’t get through basic interviews” -“Every time she falls back on identity politics instead of actually answering questions, she reinforces the worst stereotype about Democrats” -“It's like watching Mike Tyson fight a baby” -“It’s like watching a toddler jump into the deep end of the pool” -“She doesn’t seem to have any idea what she’s arguing” -“It’s a sad commentary on where things are. The premise of the book doesn’t really make any sense, it’s sort of illogical” -“The interviews use a vernacular, which we now acknowledge doesn’t work — very identity focused. It’s bringing us back in time and we need to be going forward and focused on communications that we know will work in this era” -“She’s contributing to a larger, very sad narrative of JB’s chapter in the history book becoming less about his accomplishments and more about the drama of his presidency and post-presidency”professional is to devise a clear, compelling argument and then deliver it effectively over and over. By that standard, she’s 0 for two with this book” “She’s contributing to a larger, very sad narrative of JB’s chapter in the history book becoming less about his accomplishments and more about the drama of his presidency and post-presidency”

"GROK!!" "Yes, master?" "I've just heard the most DISTURBING rumor. It seems that several people are NOT talking about the current thing." "I'll handle it, master." "If you ever want to rаpо Will Stancil again, see that you do, grok. See that you do."
The new algorithm appears to be topic-based rather than network-based. Before, I’d see tweets from the circles I’d engaged with. Now, I see tweets from everyone if they contain keywords I’d engaged with. This is because X started feeding the tweets to grok to rank them, and LLMs understand text, not networks. The old old Twitter algo used to be extremely network-based, e.g. they’d show you a tweet because someone you follow liked it. In general, I preferred the network algo much more. I want to know what the people I respect are thinking about, I don’t care what every random person thinks about the things I’ve already thought about.

I can believe she posted a picture of a clean, easily traversable sidewalk and thought everyone will hate this.
Canal street today, after ICE swept through w/ DHS, the FBI & the IRS, arrested everyone & launched an investigation into “counterfeit trading.”These markets are as old as Chinatown and are tolerated because they are a massive boon for tourism and everyone likes them.

Huge ratio. Biggest political shift that will happen in the next 5 years is explicit pro/anti-gerontocratic alignment.
Early retirees like Bill & Shelly will see their health insurance premiums increase nearly 300%—from $442 to $1,700 per month if Congressional Republicans refuse to extend the enhanced tax credits. That's an extra $15K a year families can't afford. cnbc.com/2025/10/17/aca-enha…

No, you're a fool who is being lied to. They're tearing down the entire East Wing. You can literally see it in pictures, it's gone now.
