Hell no. This is already the most expensive race in Alaska history, Peltola raised $17 million in Q3. Your $25-$200 won’t do shit. Think of opportunity costs when there are so many local charities that could desperately use your money. Food banks are struggling to make up for $185m cut from SNAP last year. If you insist on spending in politics, consider a state legislature race, whose entire budgets can be as low as $30k, or a municipal race. Your money actually matters at that level.
Lots of people are asking me where to give their money - if you can only do one race, I’d give what you can to @MaryPeltola Several reasons: 1) It’s a small state, so your money goes further per expected senate vote 2) Direct donations buy 19x ads per dollar than committees due to the unit rule - this also frees up the DSCC and SMP to put their money on states with smaller IE/coord ad price spreads and frees them up to spend more on digital 3) it’s likely going to be close! It’s not too late! Any money you send today will get spent immediately and will provide real relief to an overworked campaign workers across a bunch of orgs! secure.actblue.com/donate/mp…

I have greatly enjoyed watching America feel the same things I have felt about Vivek Ramaswamy since the fall of 2003

New: Shifts among Asian American voters helped clinch Donald Trump’s victory, but the community is often politically neglected by both parties. @SenatorAndyKim is embarking on an effort to change that, and he wants his fellow Democrats to pay attention. politico.com/news/2026/10/01…

Very confident in the ability of people who mix up the Atlanta Hawks with the Iowa Hawkeyes to save college sports
Replying to @atrupar
holy shit -- turns out Jack Smith went to a Hawkeyes game in Maryland but Schmitt's team is so reckless they concocted a conspiracy theory that Smith was actually in Atlanta seeing a Hawks game and colluding with Fani Willis. Klobuchar points out to Schmitt, "you have your teams wrong."

Chris Simms cooked ESPN, the SEC, the Republican Party in Texas and the oligarchs with this one. Bringing Ted Cr*z onto College Gameday is literally one of the worst things I’ve ever seen ESPN do.

Gas under $2.50 a gallon in Glidden, WI this weekend. Even CNN reports that 2026 is on track to be the cheapest year for gas since 2020. Promises made, promises kept. ⛽️⬇️

It is incredibly alarming that @NHL and @Capitals have allowed Alexander Ovechkin to appear in a campaign advertisement supporting the party of war criminal Putin. American hockey fans deserve better leadership from their star players!

Russia is killing Americans in the Middle East with drones that help Iran! @Capitals @NHL @ovi8 and what Russians are doing in Ukraine is wrong…..killing civilians everyday….sad day for my beloved DC team!!😞😞😞
The Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin has just appeared in a campaign video for Putin’s United Russia party. The Russian hockey player stands right behind Putin’s main propagandist Margarita Simonyan when Foreign Minister Lavrov gives a speech justifying the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. He also participated in a photo shoot for the same campaign together with Russian soldiers and individuals sanctioned for their complicity in the war against Ukraine. Mr @hasek_dominik, could you please share your excellent opinion once again on Russians participating in Western sports events?

“We can’t slow down because China will beat us.” We can slow down. Chinese AI is waterskiing behind the US. Their AI capabilities come at a delay since they mainly come from distilling US AIs. If we slow down, they slow down. Next, we can propose to cooperate and make this more robust with onsite inspectors. “We will slow down if you do too.” This is incentive-compatible for China. If both sides are slowed by roughly the same factor, while the risk of losing control of our AIs is reduced, then this does not really harm China’s competitiveness but it makes them safer. It’s incentive-compatible, and @elonmusk is possibly best positioned to lead US-China negotiations. Then, if China refuses to slowdown and safeguard their future AIs, there are a variety of measures we could take. To get an agreement, the US can apply typical forms of negotiation pressure. The US could also disrupt their AIs (e.g., backdoor models by poisoning pretraining data, many other possibilities at aibetrayal.com) that could interfere with their AI development or deployment if they were uncooperative. Begin with unilateral restraint, then propose to cooperate. If that fails, consider measures to counteract them. A US-China slowdown is possible.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.
