"The story of some of our losses this year, when you look back at it is we got down early and putting in that much energy to get back into it is tough to maintain,” MSU senior Carson Cooper said.

My last game recap covering Michigan State men's basketball as a student. I'm grateful for the opportunity I received from @WDBM, having the chance to travel the country and cover games with our beat. @JackStager @TheJoeDezHour

Coop was a team-worst -16 in the first half. Turns it around on the first offensive possession with a big and-1.
35-28 UConn at the half.
The Spartans chip away in the final minutes. Not the worst deficit, all things considered, with how UConn dominated the half.
5-0 run and just like that the deficit is cut to 10. The Michigan State crowd is trying to get back into it. Timeout UConn.
Notes from the first five minutes:
- Michigan State has 4 offensive rebounds
- Spartans are suffering too many miscommunications on the perimeter; UConn is getting great looks from 3.
- UConn is hedging hard on Fears, looking to get the ball out of his hands.
Duke advances to the Elite Eight after the 80-75 win over St. John's.
The clock hit triple zeros at 9:24 p.m., so the MSU/UConn tip off will be pushed back at least a few minutes.
Settled in at Capital One Arena for the tip off of Duke vs St. John’s before Michigan State takes on UConn at 9:45. @WDBM

The second weekend of the NCAA Tournament is special for every player, but it means a little more for Michigan State freshmen Cam Ward and Jordan Scott.
