βCaptain,β he said, approaching his captain.

The Whisper That Replaced God, by Timothy Wolff @TimWolffAuthor
ββββ
A real breath of fresh, vaguely malevolent air, and a quick read. TWTRG is an odd duck. An unreliable POV account of a mad, mask wearing, villainous Prince who hears the voice of the dark god of silence and kills people. He can make everything around him totally silent, which is useful in his line of work as an assassin. It's a cool concept, it swings for the fences with a massive cringe lord MC who, honestly, I kinda loved.
It does many, many things that I like - it's fun and it's darkly funny. Once I switched the main character to looking like Grima Wormtongue in my head, it clicked. He's not a good guy.
The writing, voice, the way it plays with pov, is all fantastic - I just can't say the story really did anything for me, it lacked a good bit of bite, but the way it's narrated makes for easy and enjoyable reading. I liked it, but not enough to check out the sequel. Extra points for originality, it's a really unusual type of story and I had fun reading it.
Oh, and the two random jabs at Amazon, while totally justified, reaaaally took me out of the story, that was like stepping on a Lego.
4 stars.

This novella by @TimWolffAuthor was delightfully unhinged in all the best ways. If youβre looking for a short, but deeply engaging read between those chonkers then please dive into Lord Muteβs chaotic and disturbing mind!

PSA - @TimWolffAuthorβs writing is near frictionless for my tastes and I absolutely love it. He has joined a small list of people whose books I enjoy reading over listening.

If you write a book and it sucks youβre the dude who wrote a bad book. If you write 10 books and 7 of them suck youβre the dude who wrote 3 good books πΊ

Today is the 6th birthday of my first book, Talia: Heir to the Fairy Realm.
Inspired by the idea, what if Maleficent was Aurora's mother, and what if she's not really evil, this book and the series brought me back to writing.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me.
Happy release day to the very awesome @authornickbetts πΊ
