Minnesota was the first state to establish an ironclad right to reproductive freedom after the Dobbs decision. Politicians across the nation turned back the clock on reproductive rights. But here in Minnesota, we trust people to make their own decisions.

We miss you, and think of you often. Session is wrapped. Spring is in bloom. I’m retiring soon. You two would have thrived in retirement. I trust you’re living it now. We have our arms wrapped around your kids. They’re remarkable. We love them.

Not to sound like your parents - but there’s never been a better time to start a family than right now in Minnesota.

Parents are afraid to send their kids to school, classrooms sit half-empty, children are being taken to detention facilities. We’ve crossed a line. I stood with education leaders to discuss the growing harm federal actions are causing to children, families, and our schools.

Minnesota may be known for our lakes, Bob Dylan, and Prince - but our civic engagement runs deeper. If Donald Trump intended to make an example out of Minnesota, then I am damn proud of that example.

I told the White House the state must lead the investigation. Let state investigators secure justice. As we process the scene, stay peaceful and give them space. The State has the personnel to keep people safe – federal agents must not obstruct our ability to do so.

I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

State investigators have been on the scene in North Minneapolis. I know you’re angry. I’m angry. What Donald Trump wants is violence in the streets. But Minnesota will remain an island of decency, of justice, of community, and of peace. Don’t give him what he wants.
