Join us at 11am for the two-minute silence as we honour all who served and remember those who gave their lives. Today, we are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with blind veterans taking their place at commemorations across the UK. Lest we forget.

RIGHT NOW in 1916, British and French troops go 'over the top' at the Somme. An estimated 60,000 are wounded or killed within the first 24 hours of the four-and-a-half-month offensive.

On VE Day, we honour the courage and sacrifice of those who helped bring an end to the Second World War in Europe. Their service, and the collective effort of many nations, secured the freedoms we value today. #VEDay

The first woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize, the first individual to be awarded two Nobel Prizes and still today the only individual with two Nobel Prizes in two different scientific categories: Marie Skłodowska Curie. Skłodowska Curie developed the term radioactivity, discovered the chemical elements polonium and radium and contributed to develop new cancer treatments. For her scientific dedication and remarkable breakthroughs, she was awarded the 1903 physics prize and the 1911 chemistry prize. Learn more: bit.ly/4qGyRS1 #InternationalWomensDay

We would love to pay our respects at Tyne Cot Cemetery when we visit as a school in May, with the help of @TimeTravelEdu and @richie_parsons2 We are busy planning for this trip and looking forward to our trip to Belgium and France with 50 Students from Year 10 @stmonicas
Rededication services took place for Lieutenant Norman Frederick Hunter and Serjeant George Goodson Moore DCM at our Tyne Cot Cemetery near Ypres and for Private George Hall at our Vichte Military Cemetery near Kortrijk. All three men had been listed as missing and were commemorated on either the Menin Gate Memorial or Tyne Cot Memorial to the missing. Their final resting places were identified thanks to research by a dedicated member of the public submitted to us and confirmed after additional research by our colleagues, MOD (JCCC) and National Army Museum. "More than a century after their deaths, we are honoured to have played a part in identifying the resting places of these three men and installing headstones that now bear their names. George Hall, Norman Frederick Hunter and George Goodson Moore were husbands, brothers and sons. They came from different backgrounds and lived different lives, yet they were united by their common sacrifice. Today’s rededication services are a poignant reminder of the human cost of war and offer a moving moment of reflection during this national period of remembrance."
