Citadels will have Tariffs
Replying to @SvetskiWrites
6/ ‘Wait, aren’t you a Bitcoin maxi? Yes..And: -- A Bitcoin-based state still needs revenue. Options? 1. Land/Property tax 2. Import/Export tax (Tariffs) 3. Licensing/Memberships -- Tariffs are actually somewhat compatible with Bitcoin. How? -- Bitcoin makes stealth taxes like inflation and income tax obsolete. -- Tariffs OTOH are relatively clean. They target *goods crossing borders*, not citizens. -- Tariffs are also flexible—charge enemies more, allies less. -- Income tax is complex, punitive and invasive. Tariffs are elegant and nationalistic. -- And like I said earlier - this isn’t for all nations or states. You probably don’t want tariffs if you’re Singapore or Salvador. -- This is the most Bitcoin-aligned part of all: A free market of nations means *different rules for different places*. That’s *real* capitalism.

This is going to be the ONLY thread you need regarding the tariffs. Read it. Bookmark it. -- The wrong question: Are Tariffs good or bad for America & the economy? -- The RIGHT question is: What are we optimizing for? Is it stonks? GDP? Cheap iPhones? -- If so sure: keep the borders open and your cash flowing overseas -- Or is it People, Nation. Beauty? -- If so, there’s another approach. -- GDP is stupid metric anyway. What good is it if your people are miserable, your kids mutilated, your jobs shipped out, and your streets lawless. -- If materialism is your metric, you’ll get a culture full of consumers, gamblers and fake wealth. (PS - for my Bitcoiners out there, it’s not only the money printer that creates this). -- If you optimize for People, Ethnos and Nation (with Economics as a tool not a goal) you get something deeper and richer. You get real wealth.

All the Tariff worriers are stuck in a paradigm that is no longer prevalent (bookmark this). They are measuring success or failure by metrics which no longer matter, ie "GDP" and "Stonks go up" "See - Trump crashed the market - it must be a bad think bc muh free market said so" "tariffs are taxes, and taxes bad" ""supply chains are too complex. If we want nice things, we need -- I'm a free-market / Austrian Econ supporter but before I am that, I support the spirit, soul, people and culture of the West. -- Only when a culture and its people are strong, can an economy flourish for the long term. -- If you weaken them both, for the sake of increasing GDP (which is a fake & ghey measure of progress anyway) or 'stonks go up', you ultimately erode the very structure that makes a free and functional market possible. -- America and the west in general has weakened itself over the last 50 years (especially) by taking the easy way out. It decided to tax its own people and import everything (including people) from outside. -- What tariff-worriers like the growth & tech bros like @balajis miss is that winning is NO LONGER about GDP and stonks, nor is it about how many pointless things a consumer can buy at Walmart. 98% of modern consumerism is bullshit anyway. "oh but iPhones are going to go up to $2000!!" So? Why the hell does anyone need another iPhone? The last one worked just fine. -- Bitcoiners who are up in arms about the tariffs are hypocrites. They talk about low time preference but refuse to acknowledge the fact that THIS is true low time preference behaviour -- Short-medium term Pain, for true long term gain that is BEYOND just economic. -- The tariffs are part of a much larger play to Make America Great Again, not just Wall Street -- Asset prices coming down another 50% is a HUGE positive, and so would cutting out 50% of the nonsense "goods" that are imported from all over the world. -- I've lived in many, many countries and I can tell you, even those with tariffs have what you need locally. -- And seriously. What's more important for the REAL America?? 1. Making sure that Wall Street and Silicon Valley make more money because the companies they've invested in can streamline operations & cut costs through imports & off-shoring? or 2. Making sure that the things that really matter locally (food, energy, housing, etc) are affordable, local and become strong on your OWN soil? ___________ -- The game is changing. -- Winning is more than just about "money" now, and it is going to take an incredible amount of courage and long-term vision (low time-preference) to stay the course. -- So far, @realDonaldTrump is the only man with the balls to do this, and I hope he continues it -- What will help also is if he abolishes the IRS and all the other nonsense internal taxes. This will offset the rise in costs for HIS people (which is, after all, whom he represents). _________ -- FWIW, there's obviously a lot more going here. This is brinksmanship at its finest. The Tariff's are neither for everyone or forever. They are strategic as much as they are necessary to change the world order & the metric by which winning is done -- The trade relationships to emerge from this new order of things will shape the new world. It's an exciting time to be alive. _________ -- Yes. I stole @uberboyo's format for long form posts.

This is El Salvador. In 2019 it was the most dangerous country in the world. Less than 5 years later, it is considered the safest in the Western Hemisphere. What made this possible? How could a small nation succeed where those with more resources failed? Why are countries like the UK and the US less safe than El Salvador? A thread 🧵👇

In a corrupt fiat world, the way to win is to play corrupt fiat games. On a sound socio-economic standard, a new set of rules apply. The Bushido of Bitcoin is a playbook for that paradigm. It's for the leaders of tomorrow. Those who want to learn, practice and ultimately master the virtues that make the great… great!

In The Bushido of Bitcoin I add two more virtues: 9. Responsibility: (責任, sekinin) If courage is the ability to act, responsibility is the obligation to bear the consequences of one's actions and the fulfillment of one's duties. It's about owning your decisions and their impact on yourself, others and society. 10. Excellence: (優秀, yūshū) Excellence is the genesis of virtue, psychologically, emotionally and etymologically. It is the separation from average and the energy of vitality. Excellence  pushes boundaries, establishes new standards and is the driving force of progress and beauty.

Most of us are confident that #Bitcoin is going to win… And it probably will. But then what?? Do we just become Lambo bros? The new establishment or a parasitic elite? Or Do we become more? I’ve spent the last two years asking this question. A thread on some of my findings 👇🧵

Clown world, Socialism, Democracy, DEI, Money Printing and any other kind of deranged Leftism cannot persist, not just because it’s ugly, but because it’s entropic. It is self-defeating: like scoring an own-goal and expecting to win the game. The parasitic paradigm we live in has subsisted this long for TWO reasons and two reasons only: 1. There was compounded prior generations worth of capital there to consume. 2. We allowed it. Now that much of the capital available has been eroded, and people can no longer afford things like fuel, food or housing — while being invaded by third-world biomass — Western Man is starting to wake up. It’s about time we got off our asses, and did something about it before it’s too late. The last few generations had their fun, it’s up to us now to clean house. The book I spent the last 2+ years writing, is about exactly this. It’s not about “Bitcoin” — it’s about the fact that we are moving onto a new socio-economic paradigm — and if we are to take full advantage of it, and steer the titanic away from the Iceberg, we MUST: 1. Establish a code of conduct to evaluate men by, so we know who is part of the in-group, and who is not, 2. Become wealthy — peasant revolutions are leftist, and only tear things down, 3. Build for beauty. Economic return is one thing, but pure utilitarianism is devoid of soul. If you want to build for the long term, you must inspire. “Man cannot remake himself without suffering, for he is both the marble and the sculptor.”  — Alexis Carrell Enjoy the latest teaser trailer by @heliand_22 "Beauty Will Save the World" And stay tuned... The Bushido of Bitcoin is coming soon..

But it's bigger than that. It's not just that insane woke people are causing chaos It's also that this is a repeated tactic communists, and tyrants generally, use to gain power: create chaos and then exploit stopping it to become popular and have an excuse for solidifying power and crack down on dissent

The greatest threat to humanity was and always will be the midwits. Unfortunately, this includes 98% of modern scientists. True scientific savants like the Newton's & Tesla's of the world understood that there was a difference between the study of matter, and the study of what matters. The former is empirical in nature, and progressive. You're always improving, adapting, refining, deconstructing and evolving. The latter is Lindy and timeless. The most important principles of life rarely change. Dominic Venner's definition of tradition comes to mind here: "Tradition is not the past, but that which does not pass" __________________ Trying to apply methodologies from the former onto the latter is not only stupid, but will yield sub-par results. Look no further than the lockdowns and transgenderism. Likewise, applying methodologies of the latter onto the former doesn't work well. See the tribes of aborigines who still think the world was created by a rainbow snake. There is a middle way, or more accurately put - a synthesis between both approaches - that requires knowing which questions are best answered (or even asked) in which broad domain. People like @ylecun cannot see beyond their own paradigm and they are prisoners to it. Ironically, this leads them into creating new religions and dogmas like "scientism" and keeps them of the wisdom and answers they purport to seek. ______________ One of the biggest issues we have today is the reverence and authority given to people like this. He's "chief of AI" at Meta - which people think makes him super smart. So they go ahead believing the dumb things he says (like go get boosted), and then to not feel like they were lied to, double down on their support of these new dogmas and become part of the NPC army. __________________ Ancient leaders knew where to put the scientists and technologists. And it was not in positions of ultimate authority, UNLESS they were men like Aristotle who could weave the two dimensions. And even then, it was Alexander who ruled, not Aristotle - and Aristotle today is only known thanks to the spirit and conquest of Alexander. Something to think about....

There’s a few reasons why this is actually the BEST way Trump could’ve closed his talk: 1. He’s the incoming commander in chief of the most important country in the world. He should be focused geopolitics and the big deals that need to be made for global sanity and stability - not on stupid bitcoin minutia. 1b) this is why I don’t like RFK. He’s simping way too much for Bitcoiners. He doesn’t have the presence or strength to take on the globalist shitfest. And certainly doesn’t have the balls to strengthen the US against other powers (Russia, China and globohomo). 2. It’s not a leaders job to micromanage & get in the way. In fact, I’d be worried if he was more interested in bitcoin. His job is to be aware, and delegate that to someone more interested and competent. 3. Bitcoin is STILL YOUNG!! I know some of you are naive enough to think we’re getting mass adoption this decade, but I’m sorry - we’re a 100yrs away. Not only do we need to the space to build, which benefits from such a posture (good luck with your little bitcoin thing), but more importantly, bitcoin needs time to grow and mature BEFORE governments of any kind take it more seriously - let alone the United States of fucking America. I have other reasons too… But I’m hungry and want to eat dinner. TBC…
The good, bad, and ugly of the Trump #Bitcoin speech. 🟠 A brief summary.👇 THE GOOD:🟢 @realDonaldTrump wants to keep America’s #Bitcoin stack of over 200,000 coins as a strategic treasury asset. If this promise is kept, that means 1% of all the #BTC have been confirmed as held. Trump wants to pardon Ross Ulbricht. Trump seemed to genuinely want the success of the industry as an American first policy. Desires cheap electricity and Ai innovation, despite no specific plan to do so. Trump made clear the problem of Dollars being DC not #BTC. Condemned a CBDC explicitly. Desires an advisory board to assist in decisions however failed to say whom he would like to appoint, which would’ve been an easy asymmetric win for him. @RobertKennedyJr did capitalize on this. Trump was charismatic and generally engaging. Brilliant with a crowd. THE BAD:🔴 Trump (and/or his campaign) seems to be unaware of the significance of stablecoins, Gary Gensler, and the importance of increasing said strategic reserve. No mention of Edward Snowden or Julian Assange, unlike his competitor RFK. Trump appeared to be less pro-#Bitcoin but more so #Bitcoin neutral. Trump made clear very little understanding for the cause of the 2021 #Bitcoin rally or the 2022 crash. Neither has to do with the president as he claimed. His narrative of not starting new wars (which is true) was a lost opportunity to discuss how #Bitcoin aligns incentives. Trump promised inflation expectations which are likely impossible. Additionally denominated salary success within USD unit of account. In general a lack of specific actions and over abundance of criticism of left-leaning individuals. I’m assuming that alienated a descent part of the crowd. THE UGLY:🟤 More than anything seems a squandered opportunity. In relation to Kennedy, Trump seemed to not have anything more than a rudimentary understanding of the subject. He incorrectly interchanged the terms crypto and #Bitcoin. He finished his speech with “whatever else you play with” leaving the final impression being that of separation and ignorance. LUKE’S OPINION TIME 1) Kennedy seems to fully understand #Bitcoin. If he was elected and fulfilled promises given this would be the definitive beginning of infinite game theory bid for #BTC. 2) Trump seems to understand #Bitcoin is not a threat (as he used to) and has heard the call to have a treasury strategy even if he seems to not understand why. 3) Kennedy yesterday set the bar crazy high in hopes to coax the Trump campaign to shift but they neglected to realize the overton window shift. Trump treated this like a rally when he should have had specific 4) Trump likely just lost a major portion of hardcore #Bitcoin voter base and will net out about even in the casual #BTC voter base. Net loss for Trump. 5) Both the Kennedy speech and Trump speech are incredibly important for different reasons. Where they do crossover is the holing of USA 200k #Bitcoin. 6) #Bitcoin voters will be torn between a candidate less likely to win but more likely to accelerate #Bitcoin vs a candidate much more likely to win and less likely to accelerate #Bitcoin. 7) It is clear in my speculation Kennedy consulted @saylor @JasonPLowery @CaitlinLong_ @CynthiaMLummis and I doubt Trump consulted any. 8) It is entirely possible if Trump is elected he shifts more towards the current Kennedy acceleration strategy. 2029 is a long ways away. 9) The largest tangible result of these speeches this weekend is normalization of #Bitcoin treasury asset for UHNWs. 10) $68,000 per #Bitcoin is absurdly cheap. The conversations have started and questions are getting better. The conversations have been highly engaging this week… Running on literally zero sleep last 33 hrs and about go to dinner with politicians and HNWs to discuss these reactions to today. Please share if useful.
