"Barrett’s esophagus rarely causes symptoms that are distinguishable from GERD symptoms, including heartburn, indigestion, trouble swallowing, and acid regurgitation, especially at night. Some people with Barrett’s esophagus report little or no signs of heartburn – a condition known as silent reflux – because Barrett’s tissue is less sensitive to reflux." Anxiety and uncertainty can weigh heavily on patients diagnosed with #BarrettsEsophagus, especially when family history raises the stakes. After more than a decade of non-dysplastic results, a 73-year-old woman still lived with lingering anxiety. Her father had passed from esophageal adenocarcinoma, and despite her low-risk findings, she often requested earlier surveillance out of concern for her own risk of progression. When her clinician, Helena in’t Veld, MSN, FNP-C, used TissueCypher on her most recent biopsy, the result provided clarity. Swipe through the carousel to see the details -->

A 74-year-old patient presented to Dr. Charles Loewe with chronic #GERD, new swallowing issues, and high anxiety. Guidelines suggested surveillance, but Dr. Loewe sought a more individualized approach using #TissueCypher. After receiving the TissueCypher intermediate-risk result, the conversation shifted. Through shared decision making, the patient and Dr. Loewe chose to escalate care from surveillance to ablation. This case shows how TissueCypher helps physicians move beyond “one size fits all” and guide the right care for the right patient at the right time.
