Holy fuck guys we’re not "pushing hard" for or replacing concept artists with AI. We have a team of 72 artists of which 23 are concept artists and we are hiring more. The art they create is original and I’m very proud of what they do. I was asked explicitly about concept art and our use of Gen AI. I answered that we use it to explore things. I didn’t say we use it to develop concept art. The artists do that. And they are indeed world class artists. We use AI tools to explore references, just like we use google and art books. At the very early ideation stages we use it as a rough outline for composition which we replace with original concept art. There is no comparison. I talked about how we use ML here if you would like to know more: gamespot.com/articles/baldur… We've hired creatives for their talent, not for their ability to do what a machine suggests, but they can experiment with these tools to make their lives easier.

"I just want to say to every neurodivergent person watching this in this room -- because I probably know there’s quite a lot of you and at home -- and to all of you that feel like life is stuck on hard mode, this one is for you […]." — Jennifer English at The Game Awards 💙💙💙

I'm getting used in a bunch of examples about this so I wanted to make my stance on this really clear: @ARCRaidersGame PvPvE is amazing. I would change nothing about it. I love the KOS players. I love the extract campers. I love the betrayals. I even love the grievers! ... wait, what? Yes. The gameplay loop in Arc Raiders is so special because you never know what to expect! That's the SPICE! It makes all those friendly encounters mean so much more. It makes the experience richer and more varied. Do I like getting extract camped? Hate it. Do not like. Griefed? Betrayed? Same thing. Just hate it. But I know exactly what I'm getting into playing a PvPvE game. My expectations are managed. Eyes wide open to the risk. And all that makes all those friend, big group encounters so much more INTERESTING! Anyway, loving the game. It's something special. Don't worry about losing your gear. Smile and laugh it off. Bosses in Elden Ring feel so much better to best after they've kicked your ass for a bit. Getting killed in PvPvE games is the exact same thing. Go get em'.

Today I realized an amazing thing. Sometime at the beginning of this millennium, I said to myself that I regret that people today know practically nothing about our history. Pop culture is full of Asian martial arts, when a sword appears in a movie, it's a katana, and when Hollywood happens to try something from the Middle Ages, it's utter criminal abomination. And I decided to try to change that. To show that European history and medieval culture looked completely different from the muddy horror of Hollywood movies. That we have our own martial arts in Europe. That most of today's ideas about the Middle Ages are clichés and myths. That I would bring Czech history and culture back into the global consciousness, from which it had disappeared thanks to 40 years of the Iron Curtain. That I would make a game that would show as accurately as possible how it really was. Everybody at the time told me, that its not gonna work. Nobody would give us money to make it happen. It was a huge struggle. But today, more than 15 years later, I realize that I can say: ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED. I feel that not only did we succeed, but we succeeded so much that it exceeded all my expectations and hopes. People from all over the world visit the places where KCD takes place because of the game by thousands. Millions of people know who Jan Žižka or king Sigismund was. The game has sparked a huge wave of pride in our small nation. Teachers thank me for getting their students interested in history again. And more and more good games with medieval themes are appearing. I consider it almost a miracle. And I am very grateful for it!

Beau à entendre ! Quelle bonne idée d’avoir utilisé des brins de texte, ici et là, d’un grand nombre des magnifiques chansons québécoise, pour en faire son discours ! Merci Antoine Bertrand pour ce moment émouvant ! 💙

Due to some strange oversight, #TheGameAwards forgot to make a highlight clip of @LarAtLarian - Swen Vincke's Speech on the official channel. Surely this wasn't a deliberate mistake, so I made one myself. We should probably retweet and repost it far and wide for good luck.
