Iām about to lead a debate in @HouseofCommons on the dreadful service from @SW_Help and @networkrail. The govt must step in and replace the South Western Railway franchise company or impose a strict performance contract where they are only paid if they deliver good services.

What a kick in the teeth for the 1 in 5 passengers whose lives were turned upside down by weeks of chaos after Mayās timetable change (and for some the pain persists!). This disconnect between quality of service and price wonāt help restore trust in our railways.
From January 2019, train fares on average will increase by 3.1%. This will underpin investment and improvements in the better railway passengers want to see. raildeliverygroup.com/media-ā¦

Amazingly for the first time I sat in one of @TLRailUK double seats as opposed to the 4s. Who TF signed off on these? Im not overly tall but couldnt sit in a normal position. And reading a paper or using a laptop us impossible! Would rather stand. Ah... I see now!

In the rail industry's latest legal controversy, @Siemens will now go ahead with their @TfL contract to provide new trains after a high court challenge from @Bombardier and @HitachiRailEU failed yesterday.

@BimAfolami Iām failing to see any improvement with @tlrailuk service, Iām failing to see an increase in capacity on a severely reduced emergency timetable and Iām failing to see any communication on what is being done to fix this! What additional pressure can I apply and to who?

**Update on new ATM charges** GTR say this is the decision of @Cardtronics, and that all machines are expected to charge by the end of Oct. They've assured us they are NOT benefitting financially from this decision.

This report is damning. Chris Grayling personally signed off plans that contributed to the collapse of rail services. The Department for Transport was complicit. āNobody took charge.ā And still, not a single rail executive or minister has accepted responsibility and resigned
