In a broadcasting career that spanned five decades, John Stapleton was one of ITV’s most trusted and respected news journalists and a much loved face of breakfast television. We are saddened to hear of his passing and we send our love and very deepest sympathies to his family and friends, as well as his many ITV colleagues who will always remember him fondly.

In Parliament yesterday, I challenged Richard Burgess, the BBC Director of News Content, about the RAF surveillance flights over Gaza - and why the BBC barely covers them.
He deflected and pretended it wasn’t important.

Saw the NBC Nightly News on Thursday - America's most-watched evening newscast. There was no reporting in the entire half-hour bulletin about the situation in the Middle East. A massive story, completely ignored. Huge contrast to the UK media where it dominates.
A Sunday Times reviewer describes a part of the latest book by famed U.S. novellist Richard Powers as having "all the writerly flair of a mid-career footballer autobiography". Ouch!

Days in government before governing party's polling average went under 30 percent:
1993 Major - 397
1968 Wilson - 664
2019 May - 675
1981 Thatcher - 676
2022 Johnson - 762
2008 Brown - 1,082
2004 Blair - 1,104
2024 Starmer - 70?
Lots of overblown criticism of Harris doing her first interview as Dem nominee alongside her VP pick.
A poll said 71% of Americans had never heard of Tim Walz when he was announced. What better way to introduce him than by including him in Harris' much-anticipated interview?

And here comes John Swinney, who isn't standing for election, no one in the audience can vote for, and who has absolutely no desire whatsoever to be prime minister of the United Kingdom. I still, after fourteen years of this, just absolutely don't get it.

Bad Boys 4 was entertaining from beginning to end. Like literally not a dull moment. Martin Lawrence showed how much of a comedian he is fr.

The White House pulled off a great bluff. But they hold a bad hand, and today's debate gambit reveals it.

That was a cracking Grand National and while the winner was sublime, so lovely to see warriors like Delta Work, Minella Indo, Galvin and Kitty’s Light running stormers.
Horse racing - what a sport!
My selections for the 2024 #GrandNational:
🐴 Delta Work
🐴 Panda Boy
🐴 Kitty's Light
Good luck everyone!
Just under a fortnight until the #GrandNational and this year's race is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in years. Reduction in field size from 40 to 34 runners seems to have inspired more top class horses to give it a go, including 2021 Gold Cup champ Minella Indo 🐎
