Over the last year, we built technology that allows AI apps to seamlessly auth and transact with content from the internet's largest websites. Now, we extend that to MCP ecosystem.
Introducing, the tollbit (dot) dev platform.
With just one account, anyone building AI agents can seamlessly discover and access MCP servers without needing to register and input payment details with a new provider every single time.
Why does this matter?
1) This will dramatically increase the velocity with which AI agents can interact with external data providers.
2) More importantly, we now introduce an incentive for first party API owners to host and maintain high quality MCP servers and in exchange for access. We are excited to bring this to all our partners with APIs on TollBit.

AI efficiency is important. Today, Google is sharing a technical paper detailing our comprehensive methodology for measuring the environmental impact of Gemini inference. We estimate that the median Gemini Apps text prompt uses 0.24 watt-hours of energy (equivalent to watching an average TV for ~nine seconds), and consumes 0.26 milliliters of water (about five drops) — figures that are substantially lower than many public estimates.
At the same time, our AI systems are becoming more efficient through research innovations and software and hardware efficiency improvements. From May 2024 to May 2025, the energy footprint of the median Gemini Apps text prompt dropped by 33x, and the total carbon footprint dropped by 44x, through a combination of model efficiency improvements, machine utilization improvements and additional clean energy procurement, all while delivering higher quality responses.

new data from @TollbitOfficial on the coming AI armagedon for publishers (and soon everyone else). as users switch from Google search to ChatGPT, bots that scrape data for RAG/inference are growing 2.5x as fast as bots for training data
We are excited to announce that we just published our Q1 2025 State of the Bots report, analyzing AI bot scraping trends across our publisher network today.
Here are 3 key takeaways:
- RAG scraping is on the rise: Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) bots scrapes now exceed Training bot scrapes across the TollBit network. RAG bot scrapes grew 49% from Q4 to Q1.
- AI bot traffic nearly doubled: Among websites that had Analytics set up before January 2025, AI bot traffic volume nearly doubled in Q1, rising by 87% during the quarter.
- robots.txt is being ignored: Despite more publishers trying to block bots, over 26 million AI scrapes bypassed robots.txt in March alone. The share of bots ignoring these files jumped from 3.3% to 12.9% in just one quarter.
