"The way overheating is addressed in housing design requires an overhaul: there needs to be a flexible and simple approach to reviewing designs at an early stage" argues Tom McNeil of @MaxFordhamLLP #ukhousing housingtoday.co.uk/comment/d…
Really happy to have contributed to this important guide from @RIBA with two @MaxFordhamLLP projects.
Delighted to announce the launch of the @RIBA Plan for Use Guide this morning. The Guide sets out actions that will help deliver a sustainable built environment based on evidence, data and past lessons with the building user at heart. bit.ly/2P3VZxZ

Just submitted some responses to the GLA's Be Seen Consultation. It's good to see the GLA will be asking for in use energy consumption. I'm not convinced about TM54's within a 4 week planning deadline. Also DEC certificates desperately need updated carbon factors!

Really positive to hear @AlanJonesPRIBA recent commitment that the @RIBA awards will take account of feedback from how buildings perform in operation.
An important step in delivering net zero carbon! More in the @MaxFordhamLLP Net Zero Carbon Guide.

Barton sports pavilion quarterly aftercare meeting today. In the summer they generally managed to rely on the natural ventilation strategy, whilst only using the cooling for events. ...Programming the electric radiators today ready for the winter. @DavidMorleyArch @MaxFordhamLLP
As part of the recent global climate strike, a group of us at
@MaxFordhamLLP took one of our client's projects and spent the afternoon running through ideas for transforming it to be net zero carbon.
Really enjoyed this article, and now also in podcast form....The air conditioning trap: how cold air is heating the world – podcast theguardian.com/news/audio/2…
A sketch I did as part of a building user guide. Hopefully, this helps the building users understand the environmental strategy.
First visit this week to the Contact theatre refurbishment and extension which is well underway. Those natural ventilation chimneys are a thing to behold
I see Soft Landings as an important part of achieving truly low carbon buildings, helping us to focus on performance-based outcomes during the design and allowing time at the end to tune things up!...& now it's fun to have a new set of awards celebrating this!
We are proud to announce the winners of the first edition of BSRIA's Soft Landings Awards! Congratulations to Max Fordham LLP, Bowmer & Kirkland Ltd and BuroHappold Engineering! ow.ly/IAQO50uH2sU @MaxFordhamLLP @bandkbuild @burohappold #SoftLandings2019
Good to see the new partners sign up the LLP today. Senior partner, Phil Armitage, sums up our role that “good design makes people’s lives better” @MaxFordhamLLP
