Love watching these plays because infielders have to be able to react, adjust and be athletic. Hard line drive off the mound, off the body, off the glove. Even watch the angles after the adjustment.

All of this comes down to timing, being on time every pitch, another sport to watch with timing is tennis and the serve and pay attention to the guy that is returning the serve, watch his timing, watch him be in sync with his movements to the servers routine.

Understand if you want to be a really good defender and separate yourselves more than just fielding a ground ball, but the process it takes before fielding the ground ball. Watch how ahead of the curve you are when you dive deeper into pre pitch preparation and timing.

No outs, grounder to 3B. PCA drifts down the line equidistant with the fielder's distance from the bag and stares him down — coiled to score the instant a throw goes to 1B. So it doesn't. The standoff takes the out away. This is how a runner should play it, even if only a bluff.
