I am genuinely thrilled (or positively chuffed, as some say) I will be one of the profs teaching The Examined Life this fall. american.edu/magazine/the-ex… #highered

I love the smell of #fire, smoke, BBQ (yes, this despite not eating meat), roasting meats, etc so much that I *LOVE* waiting for the bus at the stop near Rocklands BBQ. It's like free censing :) at the altar of the fire goddesses.
The U.S. imports 99% of the #coffee it consumes. Severe weather and climate change have affected harvests, and the price of coffee is still 44% higher than it was two years earlier.

'Speed' derives from the Old English 'spēd,' which referred to good fortune/success.
This sense of 'speed' lives on in 'Godspeed':
"God spede you" = "God prosper you"
We hope this brings you up to speed.
I'm so glad these guys are cooking. But statistically, the cooking gap is growing, and globally, men are actually doing less cooking than they were even a few years ago. (Except in Italy.) npr.org/sections/health-shot…
In a 1911 interview, Thomas Edison famously described Marie Curie’s discovery of radium as "an accident." What an OG hater! :)
