⚽️🇨🇦 This is what "moving the game forward" looks like at @OntarioIsSoccer... ⬇️ A good friend and coaching colleague of mine recently sent me the 2024 Halton Region Soccer Association U14 Boys Integrated Model (IModel) Qualification Tournament schedule (see below). As you can see, the team from his particular club will play 11 games in 14 days, including days where there are back-to-back 80-minute games at 8am and 11am on the same day. ⬇️ The link here: ontariosoccer.net/imodel will direct you to the page on Ontario Soccer's website, where they outline the "intentions" of the IModel program, which include the "goal to unify the soccer community and continue moving the game forward by introducing modern solutions and concepts." Incredibly, listed amongst these "modern solutions and concepts" is "seasonal periodization." 🙄 My question to anybody at Ontario Soccer, but specifically President @PeterAugruso, CEO @Jmizz20, and/or "Director of Development" @matt_f90, is: Do you actually believe that a U14 boys' competition schedule in which teams must play 11 games in 14 days, plus back-to-back games on the same day with less than 90 minutes' rest between games, is aligned with your stated mandates of "seasonal periodization" and "moving the game forward"? ⬇️ The fact that the leadership at Ontario Soccer accepted this competition schedule is evidence that they neither care for, nor value the health and safety of the young soccer players competing in their sanctioned "developmental" leagues. Change my mind.
