I did our riverfly ecological monitoring this afternoon. Pleased to report that numbers are where they should be for the time of year, and that Commons Lake is healthy and unpolluted. The data collected is fed into a national data base riverflies.org/about-us
I've written about ticks in our Crier article this month, but these photos really show you what to look out for. And here's a website with more information. lymediseaseaction.org.uk/abo… facebook.com/permalink.php?s…
Beautiful reflections on the river this evening.
Just a reminder that the AGM of the GREAT TORRINGTON COMMONS CONSERVATORS is on WEDNESDAY 15th MAY at 7pm in THE PLOUGH GALLERY. Everyone is welcome.
We’ve started putting these little signs up to let people know when they are coming on to the Commons in some of the further out places that not everyone realises are part of the Commons Then I got distracted by the flowers!

The sun is shining and the first boot sale of the year is on. Get yourself down there for a bargain.!
Hugely grateful the the running club TAAC for their very generous donation of £500 for the upkeep of the Commons this evening. It's always wonderful to see the Round The Tree Race and the Christmas Caper using the Commons every year. Thank you very much to Allie and the team!

We have written a plan to map out how we will manage the Commons in the next five years and beyond. This plan is now at the public consultation stage and we would really appreciate feedback. You can see printed copies in the... torringtoncommon.co.uk/manag…

A different perspective on the Old Bowling Green. With thanks to Michael Collins. facebook.com/permalink.php?s…
You might spot a black oil beetle put on the Commons at the moment. These are a priority species of principal importance for conservation as their numbers are in decline due to habitat destruction. I spotted this one on the path across the golf course!
Super walk around the Commons this morning. Thanks Mandy Harrison! How lucky are we to live here and get good weather for the holiday weekend. Loving the new signs too ..so smart and natural and definitely do not need added colour. Cavaliers hard at work on The Mayflower.
