Spent a day in Beaumont Hospital A and E last week. The waiting room is a literal tent. Id say it was put in as a temporary measure during covid and now is permanent. Old people basically sat outside shivering for hours on end. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

This is terrible. Hope you got seen. The most horrible part is no one cares in the system. No one. They’d rather payout settlements than fix the obvious problems. Throwing money at it doesn’t work without strict oversight and forethought.

People deserve better than this, was in A&E with a family member in Cork City last night and to say it was like The Twilight Zone is an understatement. Decent hardworking people deserve better than having to sit on a plastic chair in a stinking portacabin for hours on end!

The lived experience. Now you have to sit in the pouring rain waiting for someone else to give you permission to get on a public bus. We’ve proposed buses that can accommodate two chairs but we’re told told “contracts signed and deals are done, we will consider it in the next procurement process” that’s at least 10-15yrs away!!!! Public transport Eh!!!!! #Exclusion #Disabilities @struggleiswheel @adayinmywheels
3 buses full, pissing rain. Why? Guy in a wheelchair here not let on 3 times

These children have not only been failed during this neat 6 year window and that timeline is absolutely indefensible. -In 2016 Harvey was born, with quite serious scoliosis already at that point and Temple Street (pre-CHI) linked him to an orthopaedic surgeon that only deals with feet so he was never even reviewed properly. -In 2017 we got told his scoliosis was ‘life and death’ and that his ribs were crushing his lungs. That same year we saw the Prime Time exposé highlighting the years of failures in scoliosis care that led to @SimonHarrisTD 4 month sound bite. -In 2018 at 2 years of age, Harvey got pneumonia for the first time as a result or reduced lung function. This is the type of information that won’t even feature in this farce of an inquiry.
We have spent years fighting for children with scoliosis to be seen, heard and treated. We will not accept them being written out of the inquiry now. The scoliosis crisis did not begin in 2019. The harm did not begin in 2019. Our statement on the proposed Commission of Investigation. ⬇️

It seems that after all Gillian and Steven have been through it still did not warrant a courtesy call to attend the report briefing, No, instead people who have not been as affected they were invited along. A shocking way to treat Steven and Gillian after all they have been through. #JusticeForHarvey
Family of Harvey Morrison condemn closed-door inquiry plan ✍️John Mooney/ Sadie Loughman The Irish health minister is accused of reneging on a promise to hold a public inquiry into the treatment of children suffering from scoliosis Carroll MacNeill’s officials told affected families and campaigners on Saturday that they planned to hold an inquiry into the scandal behind closed doors. Harvey’s parents were not invited to the briefing. “We feel incredibly disappointed that we weren’t invited to the briefing, given everything that has happened and how Harvey was treated, especially knowing he was mentioned in the report. The whole thing seems to be completely diluted and not at all what had been agreed,” Gillian Sherratt, Harvey’s mother, said. "We want Harvey's story and the way he was failed out in public. They have hidden behind closed doors for long enough. I would call on the minister to put a halt to bringing this to cabinet and instead focus on ensuring that this is the child-centred and family-centred inquiry that was promised to us,' she added #JusticeforHarvey #CHI #PublicInquiryCHi #BackUs #HowIrelandWorks thetimes.com/article/4d4ff81…

We don’t think it can be emphasised enough that the families and children most affected by the scoliosis scandal are once again the people being purposely left outside the room. It has been insult after insult to us in this community. The two groups who have campaigned for us relentlessly have being kept in the dark and others who have “Zero” involvement in our situation brought into the room to discuss our children. We the parents affected have been completely ignored. This is another slap in the face in our ongoing fight for justice for our children failed by this scoliosis scandal. #Shameful #insulting @SimonHarrisTD @CarrollJennifer irishexaminer.com/news/arid-…

I have no doubt that many brave and courageous whistleblowers right across Ireland have had experiences similar to those described by Garda whistleblowers. Politicians on all sides of the Dáil can stand up and say how important whistleblowers are and how they must be protected.@MichealMartinTD @SimonHarrisTD @MaryLouMcDonald @ivanabacik @HollyCairnsTD @alankellylabour @JMcGuinnessTD But those words will mean absolutely nothing unless they collectively come together and engage directly with whistleblowers about how the Protected Disclosures Act is actually working in practice. Listen to the people who have used the legislation. Listen to what happened after they spoke up. Look at their evidence and ask whether the protections promised on paper are delivering in the real world. Whistleblowers don’t need more speeches. They need politicians to listen — and act.
