Jury convicts man of rape, murder 14 years after UNC student Faith Hedgepeth's death trib.al/YtBaIcq
Nothing can bring Faith back or right this wrong. It is a horrible tragedy. I'm glad that at least her family gets to see this monster put away for what little consolation it offers.
Justice for Faith.
Rest in Peace

🕯️ THROWBACK THURSDAY: RUTH ELIZABETH BRENNEMAN
For more than 50 years, she had no name.
On September 24, 1973, 14-year-old Ruth Elizabeth Brenneman was dropped off at William Penn High School in York, Pennsylvania. She never returned home.
Just over two weeks later, on October 10, 1973, the remains of an unidentified teenage girl were discovered in a wooded area near Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County, roughly 50 miles from Ruth’s home. Her identity would remain a mystery for decades.
In 2024, advances in forensic genetic genealogy finally provided the breakthrough investigators had been waiting for.
The unidentified girl was Ruth.
After 51 years, Ruth had her name back.
But her story is not finished.
Authorities say the cause and manner of Ruth’s death remain undetermined, and investigators are still asking anyone who knew Ruth in 1973 — or who may know something about the circumstances surrounding her death — to come forward.
Someone may still remember something.
A person she knew. A conversation. A vehicle.
Something that seemed insignificant in 1973 but could matter today.
❤️ Ruth has her name back. Now she deserves the rest of her story.
If you have information, contact the Pennsylvania State Police or FBI ViCAP.

A Police Chief Vanishes from Ohio, was it foul play or a clever ruse to leave behind an enduring mystery? In episode 215 of Trace Evidence we tackled the baffling story of Chief Mel Wiley and there's no better time to go back and revisit this haunting story.
In January of 1982, Melvin Wiley was appointed Chief of Police in Hinckley Township, Ohio. With a law enforcement career spanning nearly twenty years and a background in military intelligence, Mel was considered by most the be a prime candidate for the position. For more than three years, they had no reason to question that choice.
Then on a warm summer afternoon in July of 1985, Chief Wiley mysteriously vanished. After failing to show up for work for two days, rangers discovered his abandoned vehicle at Edgewater Park in Cleveland, right on the shore of Lake Erie. While some believed Chief Wiley had been the victim of a crime, others theorized that perhaps the aspiring author had written his own mysterious exit.
Nearly forty years later and the mystery of Chief Wiley remains. Friends and family never believed he'd have gone away by his own choice, and not one of them has heard from him since July of '85. He remains the first Chief of Police to have ever been listed by the FBI as a missing person and, all this time later, he has never been found.
