Big changes for Riftbound 2027 events. All of them look positive. Highlights include points leaderboard similar to what Pokemon has, an increase in venue size to accommodate more people, and a dramatic increase in Showdowns (30-40 each season)!
Right now, the amount of events has been a problem in the Oceania region so if there is an increase for it, it will be huge. The venue size increase is also tackling one of the biggest issues plaguing the top TCG space where people aren't even able to sign up to events. Big Ws.
They rebooted Vanguard the first time because it was too complicated and you had to carry more than just your main deck.

Yeah back in like 2014, we had WGP for Weiss Schwarz JP version. We had 2 undefeated players left, but they forced us to cut to top cut and also forced us to use a purely random method to determine which X-1s made it.
Unfortunately, the names that didn't make it was me and Mark.
I think it's the same place as last time, but that place was great so good stuff.

Remember when Bushiroad manually paired their tournaments with a slip? Then determined top cut by pulling the losers out of a hat? I remember (I was 1 of the 2 that missed top cut).
Not only speaking for myself but even just for the people in cities outside of Manila, cancelling an event that can be ran on another pairing system two days before the event is diabolical.
Players spend money for flights and accommodation to attend events that have been scheduled well in advance, and for it to cancel on the day that they are supposed to board a plane is a terrible way to go about handling your regional level tournament.
Why is it that Grand Prix 2026 Autumn Chiba for Shadowverse: Evolve, a significantly bigger event, is still being held and a 70 player capped tournament can’t be handled the same way? xitter.cf/shadowverse_ev/status/…
This is 2026 where there are ways to handle a pairing system then later report it to Bushiroad via Bushi Navi once it gets patched due to the PHP Cyber Vulnerability. Another pairing system, use AI to seed your event, and even in the worst case scenario, manually pair the event.
How is it that a company like Bushiroad is incompetent of organizing a backup plan if in the event of a disaster to the pairing system, there is an alternate way to hold the tournament? The only thing affected here is the tournament pairing system and there are systems out there that do not run on PHP or on any infrastructure that isn’t affected by the vulnerability.
Not to mention, people who have never been to the hosting store before, and with a big event where they are front facing as the organizer gets cancelled, that is reputation damage to the store.
There absolutely should be some sort of compensation to the players for this event and whilst this is a global cyber issue, an adjustment in how the tournament pairing is conducted can solve this issue.
If you as a company do not have backup plans, or have trust in your tournament organizers to fulfil the integrity of your event, why even bother playing Bushiroad games?
A subpar BCS 26/27 announcement with less than the bare minimum of event details for players to make decisions, and a cancellation of an event two days before the appointed time which causes remote players to drop their arrangements from work and personal commitments, why even bother?

The problem is their last few games have been awful. It's scary that their last good game was probably Dragon Age: Inquisition back in 2014, but even that felt like an obvious step down from their last "great" game was Mass Effect 2 in 2010.
Some of the greatest titles using their names (BG3 and KOTOR2) was done by Obsidian instead as well. I was kind of expecting them to disband after Anthem.

Yeah, by default you assume they're hiring one unless they mention it in the job ad. Usually at the interview stage you can ask how many they're hiring.
Replying to @taunt_d
Yes. Usually places don't disclose how many people they're hiring.

Yeah like they're not buying the cheapest tickets either, it's all going to be at least Business Class+ with Flex through a business travel agency, so it's all cancellable or can be credited.
The real deal is they make their whales and audience happy. Give them some money back. Then the good will translates to more gacha sales so all the money comes back to them anyway.
Wow, actually huge move to build good will.
If you think about it, the budget for staff travel and expenses can be reallocated to this.
We have updated the details of reimbursement for trainers who had planned to attend 7th EVENT WORLD TOUR: THE STAGE in LOS ANGELES. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
