Thank you to everyone who has supported us since then, and if you haven’t yet what better time than today to support local, see all of the work we did to restore this historic building, and try what Edmontonians voted to be the best BBQ in #yeg all in one visit!?
117 years ago today, on September 11, 1908 the Transit Hotel opened its doors for the first time in the heart of what was then the Village of North Edmonton.
We were proud to give one of the oldest buildings in #yeg a new life 4 years ago after it had been closed since 2017.
1/x-Sad to see the Transit being marketed as exclusively a redevelopment (tear down) opportunity in a city that has a horrible record of tearing down its history. I think it could be a mistake.
I still believe if you find the right buyer with a desire to preserve this historic
4/x-There is also community support to save it. Despite cost overruns driven mostly by permit delays, COVID, inflation, and selling a premium product in a lower income area we were still able to keep the buisiness going for almost 5 years.
5/x-Hopefully another person with a love for the northside and a vision to preserve our history sees that too, because it would be a shame to lose more of our city’s wonderful history.

BREAKING; Calgary’s iconic Cowboys Dance Hall is closing after nearly 30 years.
The venue announced it’s shutting its doors as Penny Lane Entertainment shifts its focus to expanding the Cowboys Music Festival, Cowboys Park, and new events.
Following several downtown Edmonton business closures, we asked our Instagram followers what keeps them from visiting downtown Edmonton.
Top 3 concerns:
1. Homeless people and open drug use.
2. The parking situation.
3. Expensive prices.
Be sure to try the Brisket Slider, Ribs, and Chicken Skins from Midnite Rooster (aka Transit Smokehouse & BBQ) at Taste of Edmonton @TasteOfEdm today #yeg!

Every Edmontonian should read this...
An entrepreneur's lament for our city.
Let's hope our civic leaders are paying attention to what job creators are saying.
Thanks for saying the quiet part out loud, Chris. It needed to be said. gretabar.com/greta-yeg-is-cl…
