Cool little snippet from OTI Racing re Waller's thoughts for Soverato in mid June.
What makes Chris Waller so good?
Here's his update to Soverato's owners in June, a week after her run in the G1 Queensland Oaks. A perfectly executed plan - onto the G2 Matriarch we go! 👸

Riding in outstanding form Billy Egan.
Sweet ride that one at Wangaratta.

Three fillies entered in the Victoria Derby: Fringilla, Quick Finish, Refuse To Curtsy.
The last filly to run in the Derby was Lycra in 1990 (also ran in the Oaks).
The last filly to place was Born To Be Queen in 1985. The last filly to win was Frances Tressady in 1923.

Well the VRC Derby distance knockers have certainly got a lot to jump up and down about this week.
Can't recall a more uninspiring VRC Derby field in my time in Racing.
Think the tradionalists will be seeing the last year the race is run at 2500m.
Love this for Soulcombe. Would be a huge training effort to get him into the Melbourne Cup, 3 years after his 2nd in the race behind Without A Fight.
Bendigo Cup going from strength to strength each year as a key Melbourne Cup lead up.

Yes. Especially with pattern heat, particularly on handicaps.
This is nothing to do with the two races you mentioned, but if they’re gonna persist with this paying-to-last in the Melb Cup they should also have discretionary power to evict no-hopers from the race.
Well done to Dylan Dean with a great ride on Kahhof for his boss John Moloney @moloney_racing.
He now qualifies for Oaks Day Final and so does Wetumpka.
Flying Mikki already in the final was good late when got some confidence in clean going.
Shaping as a cracking race!

Extremely interesting comments from Adrian re Sir Delius.
He was the best of the on pace horses today but gee he feels a long way off the hulking Sir D of the QE or Spring last year.
Hope he can bounce back in runs to come.
