Who has recommendations for BIPOC climate scientists to follow? Every climate scientist I follow on here is white. Y'all are v smart but it's a problem. I mean, can we really fix climate without the rest of the world? (of course, maybe I'm just REALLY bad at Twitter)

Provisional ERA5 global temperature for 17th November from @CopernicusECMWF was 1.17°C above 1991-2020 - the warmest on record.
Our best estimate is that this was the first day when global temperature was more than 2°C above 1850-1900 (or pre-industrial) levels, at 2.06°C.
Excellent reporting by @alex_zee on the causes of homelessness. Interesting that Oregon is #4 for number of people experiencing homelessness AND #4 for under producing housing.
I spent the past month (months, maybe?) digging into the roots of the state's homeless crisis -- and potential solutions.
Here's part one of the resulting story (stay tuned for the second half, coming tomorrow): opb.org/article/2023/10/09/o…
Devastating. So sad to see this. I've wondered how long it would take for another disaster on the level of Paradise California. Is this it? #ClimateEmergency
Wow! Remember this when those folks call you and ask you to pay more so the power company uses renewable energy. They're taking your money and funding their own resistance to renewable energy. oregonlive.com/business/2023…
Sadly we have to ask this question over and over: can you imagine The state violence that would have happened if this was a protest for black lives? google.com/amp/s/www.washing…

The first episode of Weathered, a series I'm producing about natural disasters and how to prepare is out today! It's about fire and the best way is to prepare your house and community. Give it a watch and a share: youtu.be/giDX6ByhWO8

Welp, the press around me getting shot in the face is starting to roll in... and it's not bad. Trying in every interview to pivot from my story to the movement for black lives. businessinsider.com/portland…

Federal agents shot me in the face last night. Federal agents shot me in the face last night while I was covering the Black Lives Matter protests in Portland. It should be clear to everyone by now that BIPOC face a higher risk of violence by police than I do. Story in comments.
I have the option of going to a protest and putting myself at risk of police violence. Or I can choose to stay out of harm's way. For Black Americans, there is no opting out of the risk of police violence in everyday life.
