First phase of Victoria Police industrial action begins, with members voting to push forward with the second phase in the coming days. "Our members don't want to be taking industrial action," Police Association of Victoria secretary Wayne Gatt said.

Following the news of SA Police Brevet Seargent Jason Doig's death, Maria Asnicar Brown writes: "It breaks my heart, that the final words in the advisory from SA Police were 'There is no further threat to the community'... which in a nutshell encompasses all that policing is about, and what the wonderful boys and gals in blue strive to dedicate their lives to. It brings me to tears, that some of them are called upon, no - I used wrong words - some of them are "sacrificed" to keep the rest of us safe, when the situation is dire, and only the bravest - i.e. our Police Officers go where none of us dare to tread. In this case, not only Jason Doig has lost his life, but, his family is sentenced to a life without Dad.. Granddad.. Brother.. Son... Uncle... and his community is in mourning, because as we see all over facebook this morning, everyone loved him and are gutted that he's the victim of such senseless violence. Add to that, that his workmates and police all over Australia still have to strap on their guns.. their tasers.. take the keys to the police vehicles, and continue to protect their community - even as they mourn deeply the loss of one of their own.. Rest in Peace, Jason Doig... Your service will NEVER be forgotten and to your workmates, family, and community my Husband (retired police officer) and I send our most humble condolences and our thanks, and add to the tears falling for this community and family's loss." Thank you Maria. ❤💙❤
