His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan: A Legacy of Greatness
I was born on 23 February 2003 in the UAE 🇦🇪, and His Highness Sheikh Zayed passed away in November 2004, when I was still a baby.
I never had the chance to truly witness his leadership, but growing up, I heard countless stories about him from my father, who came to the UAE as a young immigrant many years ago.
The respect my father has for His Highness has always stayed with me. Through his stories, I came to understand why H.H Sheikh Zayed holds such a special place in the hearts of so many people.
He helped unite seven emirates into one nation in 1971 and transformed the UAE through investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure and the well-being of its people. His vision helped turn a young nation into the country we know today.
What I particularly admire is the legacy he left beyond his own people. The UAE became home to millions from different countries, including people like my father, who came here seeking opportunities and a better future.
I may not have memories of H.H Sheikh Zayed, but I grew up hearing about the man he was and the difference he made. Sometimes, you don't need to have known someone personally to understand the impact they had on the world around them.
H.H Sheikh Zayed's legacy lives on, not just in the nation he helped build, but in the stories passed down by those who witnessed his era.
The UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, forever remains in the hearts of the people of the UAE. As he led efforts to establish the Union, laid its foundations, and nurtured its development, his life and legacy were defined by his vision, generosity, and service to humanity. Today, we declare 7 January as Zayed the Founder Day, a new annual national occasion dedicated to celebrating his enduring legacy, transforming wisdom into action, and ensuring these values continue to inspire our nation on its steadfast path of progress towards the future.

🇫🇷 France is witnessing ongoing protests!
And I’d like to speak live with someone who supports them and can explain what’s really happening, why people are protesting, and what they hope to achieve.
Much of what I’ve seen so far is chaos and looting, and I want to understand the bigger picture. If you’re from France and open to an honest conversation, please DM me

🇷🇸 Serbians have become so united that even Vučić-aligned media outlets now seem intimidated by that unity.
Honestly, that’s impressive. This is how it should be.
Personally, I don’t think an apology is enough. Are you apologising because you genuinely regret years of alleged misinformation, or because you want to retain your audience and remain relevant?
And if the leadership changes tomorrow, will you simply change sides again?
Once trust is broken, an apology alone cannot restore it.

📺 “We reported events one-sidedly for years”: Serbian TV apologizes to viewers after Vučić's party loses the election
Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) opened its news broadcast with footage of celebrations following the Student List's election victory — scenes it had failed to show the previous evening.
“For years, we failed to fulfill our duty. We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly, and failed to ask the necessary questions. For that, we owe our viewers an apology,” news anchor Goran Eror said.
Following the controversy, RTV's acting editor-in-chief Nenad Čačić resigned.
A similar incident occurred in Hungary, where state television also apologized to viewers after Viktor Orbán's election defeat.

Why do some Indians vilify those who protest pollution as “anti-national”?
Such ad hominem attacks are neither dignified nor intellectually defensible.

🇷🇸 Serbian students and citizens deserved this moment more than anyone.
For nearly two years, students have stood up, endured hardship and taken to the streets, showing the world that a protest can be powerful without losing its dignity. Their unity and peaceful conduct became an example far beyond Serbia.
And now, seeing these massive celebrations across the country is something else. After everything they’ve been through, watching people flood the streets with Serbian flags, tears and joy feels truly special.
Tonight, Serbia celebrates. ❤️🇷🇸

🇷🇸 Vučić’s Regime will fall.
Studenti Pobeduju ✊🏼
Serbia is recording its highest voter turnout in years in Sunday’s snap parliamentary election, seen as the biggest challenge yet to Aleksandar Vučić’s more than decade-long grip on power.
Election monitor CRTA put turnout at 67.8% by 7 p.m., compared with 55.5% at the same point in the 2023 election, with long queues reported across the country and at polling stations abroad.
Analysts say high turnout favors the student-backed Student List, which grew out of nearly two years of protests sparked by the deadly November 2024 canopy collapse at Novi Sad’s railway station.
Vučić has said he would accept defeat, with first results expected later tonight.

🇷🇸 The story of a Serbian man named Gavrilo, who carries a cross as he stands with students protesting against the government.
What I admire most about Gavrilo is the love he carries for his faith and his country. He stands with the students, not for personal gain or recognition, but out of conviction and a belief in something greater than himself.
I wanted to give his story a place in this conversation because people like Gavrilo deserve to be heard.
This student movement has shown how people from different backgrounds can come together for a common cause. And men like him remind us that courage doesn't always come from power, money or influence. Sometimes, it comes from faith.
A government may have power, and those in power may resort to intimidation or violence, but they cannot easily break someone whose convictions run deeper than fear.
There is a lesson in Gavrilo's story for all of us: love your faith, love your country, and never abandon your principles when standing up for what you believe is right. 🇷🇸

🇷🇸 Serbian freedom fighter says the Novi Sad tragedy, which claimed 16 lives, became the turning point that brought students and ordinary citizens together in a demand for justice.
What followed was a wave of student blockades and protests, met with brutal violence against demonstrators and a government response many considered completely disproportionate.
At the heart of it all was one simple question: how could a tragedy of this scale happen, and why were those responsible not being held accountable?
The students demanded five things:
Full disclosure of the Novi Sad railway station reconstruction documents.
Prosecution of those who attacked students and professors, and dismissal of public officials involved.
Dropping criminal charges against detained and arrested protesters.
A 20% increase in higher education funding.
A thorough investigation into the incident during the peaceful March 15 protest that caused fear and panic.
The interview also examines allegations surrounding the reconstruction, the government's handling of the evidence, and the growing distrust of institutions that were supposed to serve the public.
What began with a tragedy became a nationwide movement. And at its heart were students who refused to let the victims be forgotten. 🇷🇸

🇷🇸 Serbian Protestor says:
Christians and all the minorities like Muslims, atheists etc have lives together and today are marching together!

🇷🇸 Serbian protester says Christians, Muslims, atheists, non-religious people and minorities have lived together in Serbia for centuries.
Today, they are marching together.
People from different faiths, backgrounds and ways of life have come together, united by a common demand for justice.
For years, political leaders across Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia have fuelled divisions and spread hatred between communities. But this student-led movement is showing something entirely different.
A movement built on love, where religious and cultural differences have taken a back seat to the shared desire for a better future.
He believes this unity is something rarely seen before, perhaps even something the world could learn from.
This, he says, is what Serbia truly is. 🇷🇸
