If you're interested in Quiet, here's a short overview and demo we gave to the Tor community:

We discovered these issues internally and have no indication any were exploited.
However, they would have been visible to AI-assisted audits.
You can see a full list in our release notes here: github.com/TryQuiet/quiet/re…
Also, a long overdue update: we're hard at work making Quiet work well on iOS by letting people add an optional server to their community.
This is our lives these days!
We fixed a security issue in the last release where other applications or users running on your device had a theoretical way to access Quiet accounts.
We aren't sure an attack was practical but it's fixed now. More info here!

We'll be hanging out giving demos this morning at the @torproject table at @rightscon Taipei.
And then we have a lightning talk in the virtual track on Wednesday afternoon US time.

This article on freedom of association is great and captures a lot of the thinking, values, and vibe behind my work on Quiet. citizensandtech.org/2024/10/…
We're building a free, open source, peer-to-peer messaging app and we're feeling really warm and fuzzy and happy about US antitrust law right now.
Messenger adds end-to-end encryption ~10 years after Signal proved it practical.
Will Messenger be peer-to-peer, ~10 years after Quiet proves it practical?
Check us out at the adorably-named "State of the Onion," with other great Tor community projects!

Why are @TryQuiet and other p2p apps essential?
Because free software which requires servers brings freedom only to people with servers: hobbyists & big orgs.
Building for anyone else? Gotta ditch the servers.

This is fascinating. $6M / year on verification SMS messages, almost half their infrastructure costs.
