Who'd have thought that UB40's #BurdenOfShame (1980) and #OneInTen (1981) would still be so relevant after 40 years! 🤯 Welcome to the #21stCentury!

Tragic.

He says: "I was taken and forced to go to war."
The Ukrainian military has run out of troops and is now sending civilians to the front lines.

Reading posts by foreigners about Brazil, I get the impression that you're not aware of the full extent of the accusations against Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro, or of the available evidence of his corruption.
So I'd like to kindly invite you to really get to know Flávio. A thread 🧵🇧🇷

This is an extreme emergency.
I hate this feeling when everyone ignores us and no help reaches us, as if we are just numbers.
Support my family, I don't know what to say, but the agony of getting food and water became very tiring.

Was erzählt man uns ?
Was man uns VERSCHWEIGT:
Moskau in 10 Minuten erreichbar
Wirklich ?
Schaut euch Victoria Nuland an
Kein orf-Brennpunkt, keine Lichterkette, nichts
Rekordgewinne in Milliardenhöhe.
Und wer verdient daran ?
BlackRock

Ukraine did this after Cuba spent hundreds of millions of dollars treating thousands of sick Ukrainian children from Chernobyl. Cuba spent 20 years providing specialised care they couldn't afford in Ukraine. Ukraine paid nothing, voting to starve Cuba was their payment I guess.
The Cost of Britain 🇬🇧
Here is the single MADDEST number in today’s Budget - and the Chancellor didn’t mention it once in his speech 👀
From April, the National Living Wage rises to £13.21 an hour.
For a full-time 40-hour week, that is £27,477 a year.
That’s GREAT right?? 🤔
At the same time, today’s Budget leaves the 40% Higher Rate tax threshold FROZEN at £50,270 right through until April 2031.
Do the maths on that:
In Britain today, earning just 1.8x the minimum wage now classes you as a Higher Rate taxpayer.
When the 40% tax band was created, it was meant for the top 3.5% of earners - bank directors and senior executives.
Today, a skilled tradesperson, experienced nurse, police sergeant or salaried worker earning 1.8x the legal minimum wage hands over:
❌ 42p of every extra pound to HMRC (40% Income Tax + 2% NI)
❌ 51p of every extra pound if they have a student loan
That single threshold freeze is quietly pulling an extra £34 billion a year out of working people’s pay packets - without the government ever having to announce a headline tax rise.
Pushing minimum wage up from the bottom
Whilst freezing the 40% tax trap at the top
How can earning 1.8x minimum wage possibly be classed as a “higher earner” in 2026?

I spoke with someone who works at my university about the difficulties I’m facing in my studies, the emotional exhaustion, and the overwhelming pressure I’m trying to cope with.
He tried to encourage me by saying, “You’re from Gaza! You people are extraordinary. You can do the impossible and overcome even the hardest circumstances.”
I know he meant well, but his words made me think deeply...
Why does the world expect us, the people of Gaza, to be stronger than everyone else? Why are we expected to endure more than any human being should, simply because we have become accustomed to surviving the impossible?
We are not superheroes. We are human beings, just like you.
We get tired. We get scared. We feel weak. We cry. And sometimes, we simply lose the strength to keep going.
Surviving a war does not mean we have healed from it. Reaching a place of safety does not mean our souls have left Gaza, or that the wounds of everything we have experienced have disappeared.
We do not need more expectations placed upon us, nor endless admiration for our ability to remain resilient.
We need to be allowed to feel exhausted, to rest, and to be ordinary human beings without feeling that we have disappointed anyone.
Please, do not turn our resilience into an excuse to demand even more sacrifices from us. Do not turn our ability to survive into a lifelong obligation to endure the unbearable.
We never chose to become symbols of resilience. We were forced to be resilient simply to stay alive. So please, do not punish us for surviving by expecting us to be superhuman forever. 💔
