🚨 Another red alert!
🌍 AVg global temperature has been 1.5°C above the pre-industrial era for 12 successive months, according to @CopernicusECMWF.
🌡️ It was the hottest June on record and the 13th month in a row to set a monthly temp record.

These are shocking numbers, even for a climate scientist who has seen a lot over the last 40 years. Health impacts of the climate disruption will soon hit millions of people. Will the world leaders finally understand the urgency to leave fossil fuels in the ground and stop deforestation? #ClimateEmergency

Deadly heat that would have been very rare without climate change & even relatively rare just 20 years ago, now common event due to continued increase in emissions from burning fossil fuels. We now this is happening, but we are not prepared. worldweatherattribution.org/…

The nordic countries with a completely different result than Germany and France: Spectacular electoral gains for green and radical-left parties (MP overtakes SD in Sweden; F strongest party in Denmark, VAS number 2 in Finland), really weak results for the far-right.

With May 2024 coming in as the warmest May on record, global temperatures have been at 1.63C above preindustrial levels over the past 12 months in @CopernicusECMWF's ERA5.
A pretty sharp jump up from prior global temps we've seen, akin to the increase between 2010 and 2016:

"MERE, BEDRE OG STØRRE NATUR i DANMARK" 🌿
✅ Kortdata over landets natur-, skov-, og landbrugsområder
✅ Data for samfundssøkonomiske omkostninger

Extreme heat in Asia made much much more likely & intense by climate change. Sounds like a broken record - yes! But heat is still underreported, underrecorded and extremely deadly! The world is not prepared for today's climate change, let alone the future. worldweatherattribution.org/…

ALT Line graph time series of a 12-month running mean of global mean surface temperature anomalies from 1979 through April 2024. There is a long-term increasing trend and large interannual variability on this graph. Anomalies are computed relative to a 1981-2010 baseline. Blue shading is shown for below average anomalies, and red shading is shown for above average anomalies.

#IPCC’s report on the physical science of #climatechange shows that mountain & polar glaciers are committed to continue melting for decades or centuries.
The freezing level height in mountain areas is projected to rise & will alter snow & ice conditions.

Chasing the magic number - when will the AMOC collapse? We know it can collapse. Has collapse many times. And we are moving towards collapse. IPCC puts probability to < 10%. Low? Oh no, For a catastrophic event, this is VERY high. World needs to wake up. insideclimatenews.org/news/0…
