Chris Turoski has built a really exciting patent law program at @UofMNLawSchool, with an MS in Patent Law for non-attorneys, a patent drafting competition, a business-oriented capstone, and more. It benefits MS, JD, and LLM students. Congratulations, Chris! @patlawumn

The @USPTO provides NAPP with new data on patent practitioner diversity (Mr./Mrs. salutation for patent agents). See bit.ly/3wW7WH1.
The question “what percentage of registered patent practitioners are women?” begs the further question: “what percentage of registered patent practitioners are patent agents who are women?" Is the class of patent agents more diverse than the class of patent practitioners overall?
Data from @USPTO shows 4X as many women become patent agents (22%) than patent attorneys (5%). Can this be correct? See article by Prof. @Turoski of @UofMNLawSchool & VP of @NAPP1996 in @Law360 We Need Reliable Data On Patent Agent, Atty Gender Diversity law360.com/ip/articles/13956…

The cost to become a traditional patent attorney is abysmally high. The diversity of the patent bar is abysmally low. We can increase the diversity of patent practitioners by expanding the pipeline of students who aspire to become patent practitioners.
