AI AND NIGERIA’S 2027 ELECTIONS
As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, one question demands attention: how do we protect voters when artificial intelligence can make false information look real?
This was a key concern at the AI and Democracy Forum 2026 in Abuja.⬇️
Language matters, too.
When election information does not reflect the languages and realities of local communities, misinformation can fill the gap.
Local-language voter education and media literacy can help people assess political claims and make informed decisions.
Safeguarding Nigeria’s 2027 election requires more than responding to false claims after they spread.
It demands collaboration,credible data,strong verification &responsible technology.
At @Orodata & @TwentytenDaily we see an opportunity to help turn these priorities into action

Where a woman lives can shape her access to opportunity.
According to Nigeria’s 2021 MICS report, only 27% of rural women have secondary education or higher, compared with 71% of urban women. The gap extends to electricity access and internet use
Rural women have higher employment than urban women, yet face significant gaps in education, electricity access, and internet use.
Employment alone isn’t enough. Rural women deserve equal access
According to the 2021 MICS report, 45% of rural women aged 20–24 were married before 18, compared with 14% of urban women. Rural women also report lower rates of skilled birth attendance.
Equity means every woman has access to healthcare, sanitation, and protection.
