Dans le Pas-de-Calais, les nazis ont coulé un dôme de 55 000 tonnes de béton pour tirer sur Londres. Il n'a jamais servi.
C'est la Coupole d'Helfaut, près de Saint-Omer. 71 mètres de diamètre, plus de 5 mètres d'épaisseur.
Le chantier commence à l'automne 1943.
Sous le dôme, les Allemands veulent préparer à l'abri des bombes leur nouvelle arme : la fusée V2.
Le plan prévoit des dizaines de tirs par jour vers Londres.
Sur le chantier, des ouvriers allemands. Mais aussi des travailleurs forcés, des Français du STO et des prisonniers soviétiques.
De mars à juillet 1944, les Alliés bombardent le site 16 fois. Le dôme tient.
En juin et juillet, la Royal Air Force largue des bombes de 5 tonnes. Les entrées des tunnels sont ensevelies.
Les Allemands abandonnent le chantier. Aucune fusée n'en partira jamais.
Depuis 1997, c'est un centre d'histoire, avec un planétarium.
Sous le dôme construit pour viser Londres, on montre aujourd'hui les étoiles.

A Ukrainian soldier took the phone of a Russian soldier he had just killed and video-called the man’s wife to tell her, “I killed your husband.” He then mocked her, insulted her, boasted about Ukrainian forces, and said the body would be left for dogs.
This is not combat. This is deliberate cruelty directed at a grieving civilian. No cause, no side, and no circumstance makes this acceptable. War does not erase the obligation to treat the dead and their families with basic human dignity. Behavior like this is disgusting and should be condemned without qualification.
Humanity does not end when the fighting starts.
No matter which army, this is unworthy of any soldier.
For the homeland, the nation, the state you may be forced to kill a person. But you must never kill your humanity.
Ukrainian authorities must immediately withdraw this soldier from the front and put him on trial.

I’ve been seeing footage from a police bodycam being posted all over x.. with people claiming it was from an HMO in London. So I did a little research and it turns out that claim isn’t supported by the reporting. 🤷🏻♀️
What I actually found is just as disturbing.. if not worse.
A 20 year old man named Jonathan Soares has pleaded guilty after police uncovered an organised criminal network importing and selling illegal zombie knives across Britain.
‼️ He was importing weapons in bulk from Pakistan, China and South Korea.
‼️ He was selling them online, including to people he KNEW were schoolchildren.
‼️ Police say he knew these knives were being used to stab and injure people, yet continued selling them anyway.
‼️ He was encouraging other sellers to expand their operations.
‼️ Police intercepted 650 illegal knives before they reached the streets.
‼️ He was already looking into importing firearms and manufacturing guns using 3D printing.
And here’s the really scary part. Police didn’t even uncover this through a weapons investigation. They discovered the operation while investigating him for FRAUD.
Which raises a pretty serious question.
❓What exactly are the police doing to proactively track down these criminal networks importing and distributing deadly weapons across Britain?
Because, yes.. I’m glad they caught this one.. but stumbling across a weapons trafficking network during an unrelated fraud investigation isn’t good enough.
How many more are operating right under their noses?
