I'm often quite proud of my students in @TwoBitsCreative, but this latest project has me smiling from ear to ear. Tonight, they debuted the first episode of a season-long docuseries following the Florida Gators Hockey team. To be creative and to "lead creative" are two very different things. I take pride in prioritizing the culture within Two Bits — a cohesive, collaborative culture. I urge my students to take risks and try things because part of figuring out what does work is first exploring what does not work. Of course, I'm there to answer questions and offer perspective, but I believe in teaching them how to think, not what to think. This new docuseries is the epitome of that system. The culture starts with me but is assimilated by them ... from the departmental captains to each individual staff member. The students built the storyboard. They planned. They traveled. They shot and edited. I'm excited to see the direction they take this project over the course of the fall semester and into the spring.
