Today, we remember and celebrate the extraordinary life of D. Wayne Lukas — a true icon of the sport and a trailblazer whose impact on racing will never be forgotten. From the winner’s circle to the backstretch, Lukas changed the game with vision, class, and an unshakable belief in greatness. His passion inspired generations. His record speaks for itself. And his legacy will live on in every horse, every trainer, and every fan he influenced. His career was built on bold decisions, early mornings, and an unrelenting drive to win — but above all, he built people. So many of today’s greats got their start under his watchful eye. “Winning isn't a sometime thing, but winning is an all-time thing. We don't do things right some of the time, we do things right all of the time.” — Hall of Fame Trainer, D. Wayne Lukas. Those words weren’t just something he said — they were something he lived, every day. Wayne leaves behind more than trophies and titles — he leaves behind a legacy of excellence that will echo through racetracks forever. We tip our hats to the man who made history — and made us all believe in what’s possible.
