At Nuremberg, American judges had to teach the Soviet judges about concepts such as “innocent until proven guilty.” The Soviets saw the trials as simply being about whether the accused went to the gulags or were taken out back with a pistol. Most people aren’t prepared to learn just how different their cultures are from others, let alone realize the implications.

this might be my last normal tweet before biotech goes vertical i'm not a whistleblower. I don't work at Lilly, Novo or any of the big labs but there is a massive shift happening in human biology right now. it's sitting in press releases and almost nobody reads them the last 6 months alone: - a once-daily pill roughly doubled median survival in metastatic pancreatic cancer (13.2 vs 6.6 months) - a one-time gene editing infusion cut hereditary angioedema attacks 87%, and 62% of patients stayed attack-free and off all other prevention for 6 months - a one-time gene edit for cholesterol dropped LDL up to 62%, and it held for over a year - a personalized mrna vaccine beat keytruda alone in a 1,137 patient melanoma phase 3 - retatrutide hit ~28% weight loss in a phase 3 - an ai-designed drug entered phase 3 - a pill that regrows hair passed its second phase 3 - an immunotherapy that could let some rectal cancer patients skip surgery, chemo and radiation just got fda approved - a man lived 271 days off dialysis on a pig kidney - human cells were caught passing chromosome-sized chunks of DNA to their neighbors, and it changes how the neighbors behave we are on the verge of an era where the human body is a software problem and the update cycle gets shorter everyday stick around, it's going to get weird bio/acc

Bro tbh I still don’t understand how there’s GROWN ASS MEN and especially there’s SO FUCKING MANY OF THEM that it even became mainstream… Who genuinely put so much effort and energy, even make it one of the main topics of the conversation and of their lives in general - into having sex Like i just don’t get it. And I’m 20 bro Just seems immature af. You’re 25+ going to Bali tryna smash random whores and talking about hypergamy Even from my short life I already understood that hooking up and having sex with random women is pointless, not fulfilling, even damaging, and just boring and degenerate tbh Just not worth the effort at all bro Sure if you’re single and it happens, it happens But your living life with “going on dates and smashing girls” as one of your main focuses is retarded You’re either degenerate, insecure tryna prove something, heartbroken, or unable to build a stable relationship You put in all the effort and focus on women for a HUGE portion of your life - for what?
Bali is hypergamy-maxed. be a chad or get cooked > tons of digital nomads and tourists > everyone there to enjoy themselves Update from Bali: > Meet this girl at a sunset bar > We vibe, get food > Her phone keeps blowing up, she sends a few messages, puts it down > We go for a dance at a nearby party (Cashew Tree, Uluwatu) > We make out, get horny, go back to my villa > The next day, I learn that she had a dinner date reservation that she cancelled > Overweighed Indian dude had a date with her at the most expensive restaurant on the island > She cancelled 5mins before he was supposed to pick her up > Indian dude has no plans, joins other friends at a party > Sees his date and me dancing and making out > We leave, he texts her next day again, he’s hurt Get lean or get cooked, brother. Sorry

I’ve already started seeing this in white collar elite finance circles at Fortune 500 companies, Pat is absolutely correct
This is the reality, and I don't really care much about the moralizing about it, because you can't destroy the structures supporting monogamy at scale and then complain when something else replaces it. Everyone who says "polygyny is bad" doesn't seem to want to accept over half of the population not getting married and reproducing because the dating market is destroyed is far worse. I have been discussing this trend for a year, and every, literally every critique I have seen of the structure (which has much to criticize) is either: a) describing circumstances that are already happening (i.e. no young men are finding women because the women are all taken by the top guys) b) conflating polygyny with 3rd world culture / attitudes towards women in general that would not apply to how it played out in the west Now, is the fact that polygyny is coming a sign of our degraded culture? In most ways yes (though powerful men have usually had mistresses when they couldn't make them wives). Is it a cause of the degraded culture? No. And if you put a gun to my head and asked me if it is more likely to harm society than the current churn of casual hook ups, my answer would be no. My answer would be that it probably creates more structure during a time when things are falling apart, and helps monogamous marriages more than it harms them, by reducing the number of "ruined women" and changing the paradigms and power dynamics that have been collapsing that institution. So people can be mad about it, but they are going to have to get over the optics. Right now you have women (including women in churches) spending a decade sleeping around with random guys, yet it's "out of sight" so Christians pretend it's not happening, and that there aren't real consequences to it. Sorry, this is moral cowardice to me. We elevated women and let them choose the men they wanted, and it turned out that they all wanted the same men. Because that is actually female nature. Men did not create these circumstances, women did, by their own choices. So some tradeoffs will have to be accepted. Right now the vast majority of women are deciding in the face of the market pressures that they will remain single rather than marry, since the men they want to marry are generally taken. And probably, that is the choice most women will continue to take, because even if they were willing to be with a married man - the men's wives would not be willing to share him with them. But even without the inevitable legal reforms coming around marriage this next 5-10 years, there are going to be circumstances where some of these single women fit in with these married couples. Where the trust and friendship is there. These women are going to join these marriages, and everyone - not just the man - will win. That's the "sister wife" iteration of polygyny, and it will generally be more emotionally healthy and mature. But you will also see lower trust, more transactional versions occur among the more wealthy men as well - the women will have different households, there will be more competition. Think Elon Musk style "concubines," unlike the above (which will be a thing for mostly 7 figure net worth guys). This will only apply for guys with 8+ figures. But at the end of the day, regardless of the form, there will at least be children. There will at least be some mutual obligations towards each other. I struggle to see how it's worse than what we have now.

This paper “solves” hypergamy by quietly assuming every man gets exactly one partner. If you drop that assumption, a small group of high-status men can date several women, and the paper's main result falls apart. Rebuttal below.

re: airbnb discourse in college I worked as a server at an upscale steakhouse. we had a few different steak sauces that were made from scratch daily. they were expensive to make, and less than half of the customers that ordered steak wanted sauce, so the restaurant charged $3 for it we got complaints constantly. just at my own tables, half a dozen times a week I'd get complaints about being "nickel and dimed" for $3 of sauce on a $70 steak. a few times a month someone would mention it in an angry online review, or ask to speak to a manager and demand that it be removed from the bill because "who the hell charges for condiments?" after several years of this, finally management had enough. they raised the price of every steak by $3, and now complimentary sauce was included with each steak on request. want to hazard a guess about how many customers complained about the $3 price increase on steak? essentially zero. it was great, from the restaurants perspective! no more complaints, and instead of making $3 on 40% of steak orderers, they made $3 on all of them. and the customers were much happier, despite this deal being absolutely, unequivocally worse for them. consumers are not rational agents from microeconomics textbooks. very often the *feeling* of what they're being charged for matters way more than the absolute value of what they're being charged. I think that's more or less what happening with airbnb. people don't want to be charged a cleaning fee and then also told they have to clean, even if in the counterfactual world the additional cleaning fee is more than they'd be willing to pay someone to do the required cleaning. a $100 cleaning fee *feels* better than a $50 cleaning fee + "load the dishwasher and take the trash out to the dumpster", even though most people would not pay $50 to not have to do that.

My favorite past scenario this happened with I told her “that’s cool, let’s be friends then” and she got mad at me when I asked her to pitch in for liquor I bought with our friends 😭 She texts me like “why are you asking me to give you money? I thought you had a crush on me…?” And I said well yeah but you said let’s be friends and my bros are all pitching in so what’s the issue? She didn’t want to remain my “friend” when she realized I was going to be treating her like one of the bros
Women think if you ask them out and she says no, you're morally obligated to be her friend in perpetuity.

I have a natural inclination to want to provide for a woman I like. It happens almost instantly once feelings start to develop. That feeling goes away the moment I see or feel she thinks she’s entitled to this. The “as he should” or “that’s what a man is supposed to do” mentality turns me off so bad
Men genuinely enjoy providing. It’s the entitlement that ruins everything.
