Chris Avellone is saying what many of us devs have know for years. Yes, political purity tests were happening. Yes, the modern left destroyed your favorite franchises and studios. Yes, the modern left were the authoritarian nazis the entire time.
Chris Avellone (Planescape, KOTOR 2, and Fallout: New Vegas) just dropped a MEGATON NUKE regarding BioWare's hiring practices... "...when applicants would apply to the studio, the producer would go through their LinkedIn to see what posts they liked, and if he disagreed with their political/social Like, he'd advocate not to hire them based on their Like." ITS TRUE. EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN SAYING. ITS ALL TRUE. HOLY SHIT!

Based on recent news, if you were rejected from an art position at Obsidian in the past few years, call a lawyer – discrimination in hiring, esp for a Microsoft studio, can ensure you don’t need to apply for a job ever again.

It was exactly what we expected. Wow - thank you Chris for coming forward with this
I guess I can say it now - so when applicants would apply to the studio, the producer would go through their LinkedIn to see what posts they liked, and if he disagreed with their political/social Like, he'd advocate not to hire them based on their Like.

Everyone is always rooting for you. Your parents want you to be a great son. Wife wants you to be a great husband. Your boss wants you to be a slam dunk hire. Every first date you’ve ever been on they’ve been rooting for you to get laid. Every time you started to tell a joke people hoped it would have a hilarious punch line. Your proximity to anyone is a reflection of themself, meaning the deck is never stacked against you, and your failures are completely your own

Sad but not surprising because there are many lessons to ponder. All the people who made the “greats” being cited here have long since moved on from BioWare. When you lose that vitality in your org (for insanely stupid self inflicted reasons I might add), it’s over.

What are the feds doing now. The stuff that came out of MKUltra was amazing. Ken Kesey, The Grateful Dead, Ted Kaczynski. The Paris Review when it was good was CIA. Now: nothing. The Thiel era “They” creates no culture. It’s all tech and data. Math won over art. We’re lame because we fight a lame enemy. An autism war fought by speed taking pod people.

By beholding we become changed

American-made products are not impossible. Stories about iPhones costing $37,000 or laptops costing $100,000 are psy-ops, sometimes pushed by foreign adversaries but more commonly by American corporations that want anything but an upset to the status quo.
Palmer Luckey says companies are exaggerating the cost of American manufacturing to justify staying in China: “They don’t want to admit that it is a choice.” 🇺🇸🇨🇳 “I don’t have a lot of sympathy for people who pretend that manufacturing in the U.S. is this impossible, order-of-magnitude problem. A lot of it is very self-serving. They want to justify why they’re in China. They want to justify why it’s OK for them to stay in China. They know that when sanctions hit as a result of a potential Taiwan conflict, they want to say, ‘Nobody could’ve predicted this, and I had no choice anyway.’ They don’t want to admit that it is a choice. If Chinese subsidized steel is a third of the price of American unsubsidized steel, a tariff isn’t going to work. But if the price difference really is 30%, then a tariff could bring the American steel industry back. It’s critically important to get this question right, and there aren’t enough people talking about it.”

He’s correct. It’s a matter of will. “I found the crown of France lying in the gutter”
