Iāve lost track of the number of messages, calls and texts I received after this news hit late yesterday. There were a lot of questions raised that I just didnāt have time to dig into last night.
Well, apparently @Jim_Wiesemeyer did. He sent me this deep dive this morning:

There are still several questions that arenāt answered. NASS admitted an error was made, but doesnāt say what the error was.

.@POTUS IN KANSAS: "I'm also pleased to announce that @USDA will be launching a new Harvest Fuel Relief Program, providing our farmers with $8B in support to offset diesel costs during this harvest seasonā and @RogerMarshallMD is the leader who fought for that to happen."

We didn't hear much about Hurricane Isaias after it made landfall earlier this month, but the reality is it shifted at the last minute, and the damage to Southeast cotton farmers was devastating.
With winds topping 118 mph, Floridaās Panhandle lost an estimated 95% of its cotton crop. Alabama farmers are also facing significant harvest losses after an already tough growing season.
The winds grew more severe AFTER Isaias made landfall. And it didn't just damage unharvested crops, but also important infrastructure, fertilizer warehouses and peanut buying points. Farmers tell me cleanup in fields will likely last until spring. @NCottonCouncil

Things got western in our part of Missouri last night. Storms brought 60 to 80 mph winds, with isolated reports near 90 mph. Thankfully, most corn was harvested, but what was still standing and in the storm's path is flat today.
A grain bin at a local elevator was crushed, adding to storage challenges at the height of harvest. The storm hit fast, and there's damage all over Ray and Carroll County today.

BREAKING: @POTUS just signed an Executive Order to immediately cut diesel costs by temporarily allowing highway use of tax-free dyed diesel and deferring the federal diesel tax on that fuel through the end of the year ā no interest, no penalties.

With gasoline prices inching up and diesel well above $6/gal and climbing, Americans will pay $418 million more on gasoline and $310 million more on diesel today vs one year ago, or nearly ~$730 million combined.
Happy Cy-Hawk Game Day to all who celebrate! @ChipFlory and I kicked off the 2026 @USFarmReport College Roadshow from Iowa State this week. The crowd was electric. Just look at some of these signs!š„š
I can only imagine what itāll be like in Iowa City today. Iāve already told @iwatchcorn heās joining us for Roadshow next year.
Did you know one of the pilots on Flight 11, the first plane to strike the World Trade Center on 9/11, was also a farmer?
Capt. John Ogonowski flew for American Airlines, but back home in Dracut, Mass., he was known as a dad in denim and work boots who loved his tractor as much as the cockpit.
25 years later, his family honors him where he felt most at home, which is in the fields and on his tractor. What a wonderful tribute from @AgDayTV as we will never forget what happened 25 years ago today. @HaleyBickelhau2 @ClintonReports

diesel is closing in on a $6/gal national average as wholesale prices surge tonight 13c/gal with new attacks and threats. BUT the real story may be out West- California could blow past $8/gal, and some pumps aren't even built to display what could come next.

Nearly two months after the @NationalCorn commissioned study found U.S. farmer are often paying double for farm inputs compared to farmers in Brazil, Sen. @ChuckGrassley is now asking President Trump to do for farmers what he's done for pharma.
His words: "Do for American farmers what you have done for consumers of pharmaceutical products."
Backstory: As we reported in July, NCGA data shows US farmers paying up to 2x what Brazil pays for the same seed & chemicals. Now it's landed on Trump's Truth Social feed.

Chuck Grassley just asked Trump to do for farmers what he did on drug prices.
American companies sell seed, fertilizer, and chemicals cheap overseas. Brazil gets the discount. U.S. farmers pay a 68% premium on corn seed.
Squeeze the cartel.
Skip the $11 billion Band-Aid.
Stand with American farmers. šŗšø
