We were extremely honoured to be invited to this year’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, held by our President, Her Majesty The Queen.
In attendance representing Breakthrough T1D were @parthnarendran and Niro Narendran, Tim Tree and his son, and our supporters Clare and Tony. You may recognise Parth, Tim, Clare and Tony from our BBC Lifeline Appeal earlier this year, where they so generously shared their personal experiences of type 1 diabetes and the impact of our research to date.
Our sincere thanks to Buckingham Palace and to Her Majesty for this very special privilege. 💙

Yesterday the @BT1DUK #CommunityEngagement team came together in person at LSE (London School of Economics) – and it was one of those days full of ideas, connection, passion and energy 💙
We spent time sharing our collective expertise and insights, focused on how we support people of all ages and stages of #T1D to live well – through access to trusted information and support, building meaningful community connections, and working in partnership with the community, the NHS and others to extend our impact for people affected by #Type1Diabetes. We also had discussions about the current state of T1D tech access across all four UK nations, and how we continue to improve what we offer so it remains insight‑led and coproduced.
It also felt extra special to be meeting at LSE – the venue for our London #DiscoveryDay this September (as last year). We spent time discussing the event, thinking about how we create welcoming, community‑led spaces for people to connect, learn and share, including plans for new insight‑driven elements with a particular focus on further supporting younger people within our community spaces. There are some exciting plans underway... watch this space 👀
A huge thank you to the Bukhman Foundation for their support of our Community Engagement work 💙

"One day, and I am sure within my lifetime, I hope we can cure this condition but until then, we can make people’s journey with type 1 that little bit better." - Sarah Bool MP
Fantastic to see @sarah_bool championing early detection of type 1 diabetes in parliament today.
Sarah's 10 Minute Rule Bill brings this issue into Parliament where it belongs. Earlier diagnosis means fewer children and adults presenting in medical emergencies and better long‑term health from the start of treatment.
For families, it means clarity instead of crisis, time to learn instead of shock, and confidence rather than fear. This is change that saves lives.

It's always worth reminding all healthcare professionals about the relevance of 'Language' used in interaction with those living with #Diabetes
"As the saying goes…'With great power, comes great responsibility.'
Hopefully, this piece of work goes some way towards realising the importance of that ethos"
