Meet Eastern Michigan's starting DT Tyrell Martin. Martin's senior football season at St Georges Tech HS in Middletown Delaware was cut short because of COVID, but he still managed to finish with 8.5 sacks in 8 games.
Despite his performance on the football field, Martin's primary path to being a collegiate athlete was track and field. Martin was a 4-time state champion in the shot put.
Upon HS graduation Martin would attend Delaware state and win four MEAC Shot Put Championships (Indoor/outdoor). In 2023, Martin walked onto the Delaware State football team. In his lone season Martin started all 11 games and finished with 5 sacks. Last season Martin transferred to EMU and played in all 12 games.
Remember, not everyone's journey will be the same! Go get yours!
