Listen to this amazing speech below from Kishore Mahbubani from Singapore--100% accurate. The sclerotic Western elites simply don't realize how past their prime they are. The world has come of age, the global south are now grown up players on the stage, with their own agency and powerful positions, influence, cards to play. But the US elites continue to operate like it's the Jim Crow era of int'l politics, blind, deaf, and dumb to the tidal changes. The self-reinforcement mechanisms he speaks of are the endless echochambers and infobubbles that dominate American discourse, mostly owing to the fact that every American institution--which includes the media--has been captured by the same small elite corporate cabal, dancing to its tune. There's no real pluralism of thought or freedom, apart from the small dissident vanguard. The rest of the world has left America behind and only by recognizing this can America hope to ever catch up again. America is running on fumes, or rather operating on past glories while no longer offering anything worthwhile to the world at large, no unifying vision, no cultural progression that accords with the values of the rest of the world--nothing.
