Many thanks to all who joined us for last night’s Membership Meeting, our final one of 2026!
We appreciate everyone who took the time to attend, stay informed and stay involved in our union.
A special thank you to our Retirees Club for helping prepare and serve the food.
WHAT IS A WAGE SCALE?
A wage scale outlines pay rates for different job classifications, experience levels, or service milestones.
Your pay rate may depend on your position, length of service, hours worked, and the terms of your contract. If you have questions contact your Rep.
Congrats to Marni von Wilpert on her election to Congress!
From her work as an attorney with the NLRB to her service on the SD City Council, Sister Marni has dedicated her career to working families. We look forward to seeing her bring that dedication to representing CA’s 48th.
UFCW Local 135 congratulates Xavier Becerra on becoming California’s next governor!
As a union representing thousands of working families across San Diego, we look forward to working with him on the issues that matter to our members.
WHY DO WORK SCHEDULES MATTER?
Your work schedule affects family responsibilities, transportation, school, appointments, and your ability to plan your life.
Our contracts establish rules about scheduling, days off, guaranteed hours, how available hours are assigned, and more.
Join us for the last UFCW Local 135 Membership Meeting of 2026 this Wed at 6pm at our Scripps Ranch office located at 10075 Carroll Canyon Rd.
Get updates, ask questions, stay informed!
We're also live on Zoom!

WHAT IS A BARGAINING UNIT?
A bargaining unit is a group of employees represented by a union for collective bargaining.
Instead of negotiating workplace terms individually, employees in a bargaining unit have a collective voice when negotiating with their employer.

WHAT ARE WEINGARTEN RIGHTS?
Weingarten rights give many union-represented employees the Federal right to request union representation during an investigatory interview they reasonably believe could lead to discipline.

Marissa, a proud UFCW member and bookkeeper at Vons, has dedicated 14 years to her union. Now, at just 32 years old, she is facing a fight of her own against three types of cancer: lung sarcoma, pancreatic cancer and thyroid cancer.

🎃👻 A SPOOKTACULAR NIGHT OF UNION SOLIDARITY! 👻🎃
There were plenty of treats and no tricks at Thursday night's San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council Trunk or Treat at the United Labor Center!
We had a fun evening, handing out sweet treats to the kids of union members.
WHAT IS JUST CAUSE?
Just cause is a standard that requires an employer to have a fair and legitimate reason before disciplining or discharging an employee.
Our union contracts include just cause protections that help prevent arbitrary or unfair discipline.
The wait is over! UFCW Local 135 has finally received the fully signed Albertsons/Vons/Pavilions grocery contract back from Albertsons.
The signed contract is now available on the Contracts page of our website.

UFCW Kaiser stewards from throughout SoCal are coming together at UFCW Local 324 in Orange County for the UFCW KP Steward Conference.
When stewards share knowledge, build connections and stand together, our union is stronger.
WHAT MAKES A UNION STRONG?
A strong union is built by its members.
When workers stand together, support one another, and speak with a collective voice, they help protect the gains made and build toward a better future.
One union. Many voices. Shared strength.

WHY DOES MEMBER PARTICIPATION MATTER?
Your union is only as strong as its members' involvement.
When members ask questions, learn their contract, attend meetings, support coworkers, and participate in union activities, they help build a stronger collective voice.
Congratulations to Kristine, a Supervisor at Albertsons in Ramona, on receiving her 40-year union service pin!
Thank you, Kristine, for your decades of hard work, dedication and commitment to your coworkers and community!

WHAT ARE UNION DUES?
Union dues help fund the work it takes to represent and support members.
That work can include contract negotiations, enforcing workplace rights, handling grievances, organizing workers, and maintaining the resources needed to serve members.
This vintage “International Union Market” sign is a reminder of how union representation was made visible across San Diego. Displayed in a store window, this sign let customers know that the workers inside were represented by a union. It was a public symbol of solidarity.
